EPCOT's La Signature Reopens With Crystal Chandeliers and a Guerlain History Wall, but Its Engraving Machine Is Not Working Yet

The black curtains are down. After three and a half months hidden behind them, La Signature reopened in EPCOT's France pavilion on Wednesday, October 14, and the Guerlain shop that closed in June is back with a new interior.

WDW News Today and Blog Mickey both photographed the shop on reopening day. WDW News Today says the exterior is largely unchanged, since no scrim or scaffolding went up during the work, but the inside got what it calls "a complete interior remodel."

Out with the white, in with the wood

Before the refurbishment, La Signature was a bright white room: white cabinets, glass shelving and darker tile underfoot.

Blog Mickey says the space now feels more formal. Here is what changed, according to the two outlets that went inside:

  • Cabinets: light wood built-ins and drawers trimmed in gold filigree, with smooth white countertops, replacing the white displays and glass shelves.
  • Lighting: crystal chandeliers, including one long multi-tier fixture in the center of the store, where simpler pendant lights used to hang.
  • Floors: Blog Mickey describes parquet flooring with a white marble inlay down the center aisle, finished with gold bees at its corners; WDW News Today describes the new floor as light tan tile set against white marble-style tile. The old floor was octagonal tile.
  • Bees everywhere: the Guerlain bee also turns up as gold ornaments on the wall panels and embossed on the amber bottles on the shelves, Blog Mickey says.

Inside the remodeled La Signature, a long crystal chandelier hangs over a white-topped display table of Guerlain fragrance bottles with a black GUERLAIN sign, light oak wall panels with gold scrollwork and lit niches of amber bottles behind, arched windows at right, and a cast member in a striped vest

A wall of Guerlain history

Between the arched windows, Blog Mickey reports, sits a stone-look wall telling the story of the Guerlain house, topped with a gold-lettered line it credits to founder Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain, dated 1828: "Make excellent products. Never compromise on quality. Scrupulously apply simple ideas."

Underneath, the framed items include a picture of Guerlain's 19th-century Paris perfume factory and, Blog Mickey says, what looks like an 1853 supplier's license granted by Empress Eugénie (dated May 11). Six portraits of people behind the house are each paired with a signature bottle and its year, starting with Eau de Cologne Impériale (1855) and ending with Tobacco Honey (2024).

Makeup, fragrance and the vanity

Makeup consultations are still offered, and WDW News Today counts over 70 Guerlain cosmetics and fragrances for sale. According to Blog Mickey, the makeup side is anchored by a vanity with two textured cream chairs bearing embroidered Guerlain lettering, with lit mirrors behind trays of lipstick, powder and blush.

Blog Mickey also spotted a numbered two-step display by the windows where you pick a fragrance, then a color; a Les Masculines counter with a year under each bottle; and five large bee-stamped amber bottles in a lit wall niche, two of them labeled Shalimar and Mitsouko. Cast members told Blog Mickey the range runs from entry-level to high-end.

In-store engraving is on hold

La Signature usually engraves lipsticks and perfume bottles, but WDW News Today reports the engraving machine is not operating yet. For now, guests can have engraved products shipped home, or come back later with their receipt.

A two-day slip on the way back

The reopening came two days after the date Disney's own listings had pointed to. On Monday, October 12, Disney's website and the My Disney Experience app showed La Signature open from 9:00am to 9:00pm, but Blog Mickey found the shop still closed that morning. In a 10am update, Blog Mickey reported Disney had set the new October 14 date.

Disney originally listed June 8 as the start of the closure before moving it to June 29, Blog Mickey reported, and Disney said Plume et Palette, elsewhere in the France pavilion, would carry the Guerlain line in the meantime.

You will find La Signature outside Palais du Cinema, home to Impressions de France and the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along. Is the new look an upgrade, or do you miss the old white boutique?
