Universal's Hispanic Heritage Month Menu Puts Birria Ramen at Lombard's and Brings Back Voodoo's Margarita Doughnut

Universal Orlando Resort has put five new dishes and six specialty cocktails on menus for Hispanic & Latino Heritage Month, spread across Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Epic Universe and CityWalk. The resort announced the lineup on its Discover Universal blog Tuesday, the day the national observance begins.

Universal also put out heritage month menus in 2024 and 2025. None of this year's food items appeared in the 2024 or 2025 lineups, though Antojitos' Sangria-rita matches the Sangrita it poured last year.

The five dishes

• Caribbean Crunch Roll at The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar (CityWalk): crispy shrimp, chipotle mayo, avocado, sweet and green plantains and a crunchy plantain topping. Universal credits restaurant chef Dania Alvarez-King, who grew up in the Dominican Republic.
• Birria Ramen at Lombard's Seafood Grille (Universal Studios Florida): ramen noodles in birria consomé with slow-cooked shredded beef, topped with onions, scallions and green chili sauce and served with a cheese quesadilla, from chef assistant Angel Rivera-Chevere.
• Shrimp and Grouper Moqueca at Mythos Restaurant (Islands of Adventure): shrimp and grouper in a broth seasoned with smoked paprika and turmeric, served with coconut jasmine rice, toasted coconut and farofa crocante, from sous chef Christopher McNelley.
• Churrasco Steak Platter at Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food (CityWalk): grilled churrasco with avocado chimichurri, rice, beans, eggs and chiles toreados, from restaurant chef Pedro Espino.
• Margarita Doughnut at Voodoo Doughnut (CityWalk): a yeast doughnut filled with margarita jelly and finished with tequila icing and Tajín, from chef assistant Lee Santiago Bermudez.

The doughnut is a repeat, and it has no alcohol

The Margarita Doughnut is the one item regular CityWalk visitors may recognize. Voodoo Doughnut sold it on Cinco de Mayo, which Universal describes as a one-day offering and which we covered at the time, and Universal says it is returning now because of guest demand. Despite the tequila icing, Universal says the doughnut contains no alcohol, and it gets the margarita taste from tequila extract and citrus, with salt and Tajín. Unlike the cocktails below, it has no age requirement.

The cocktails

Six drinks are on the list, all for guests 21 and older:

• The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar (CityWalk): Togarachi-Passionfruit Margarita (Universal's spelling; tequila, Cointreau, agave, jalapeño, yuzu and lime) and Canchancara (pitorro, lime and honey).
• Antojitos (CityWalk): Sangria-rita (tequila, blackberry brandy, merlot, lime juice and agave).
• Chez Alcatraz (Universal Studios Florida): Ay Guava! (light rum, guava juice, hibiscus syrup, lime juice and club soda).
• CelesTiki (Epic Universe): Traditional Caipirinha (cachaça, sugar and lime) and El Macua (light and overproof dark rums, guava juice, sugar and lemon juice).

Chez Alcatraz and CelesTiki are the only in-park bars on the drinks list, and neither has a heritage month food item alongside it.

What Universal did not say

No prices. The post names every item and its ingredients but gives no price for any of them. Universal's 2024 and 2025 heritage month posts did not list prices either, so this is consistent with past years rather than a change.

No dates. The resort calls these "limited-time offerings" and does not say when they end. Hispanic Heritage Month runs September 15 through October 15, and Universal's 2024 and 2025 posts cited those dates without giving an end date for the menus. The 2026 post does not cite them at all, so treat October 15 as likely rather than confirmed.

Fewer food locations. Last year's lineup put food at eight locations, including Finnegan's Bar & Grill, NBC Sports Grill & Brew and Volcano Bay. This year it is five, and none of those three have a heritage month item. The cocktail list went the other way, from four different drinks last year to six.

Where it fits

Three of the five dishes and three of the six cocktails are on CityWalk, at Antojitos, The Cowfish and Voodoo Doughnut, and CityWalk is free to enter. Only the Birria Ramen, the Moqueca and the drinks at Chez Alcatraz and CelesTiki require park admission.

It runs alongside two other September menus at the resort: Halloween Horror Nights food on a separate ticket at Universal Studios Florida and the NFL season menu at NBC Sports Grill & Brew on CityWalk.
