Dufftoberfest Returns to Springfield on August 24, and for the First Time in a Decade It Is Not the Only Seasonal Duff Beer

Universal has put dates on Dufftoberfest, the Springfield, U.S.A. beer overlay at Universal Studios Florida. It runs August 24 through November 1, 2026, with the seasonal Dufftoberfest Duff Beer pouring at the Duff Brewery beer garden and Moe's Tavern.

The beer is the same one Springfield has poured most falls since 2015, and the announcement is written as an arrival rather than the return it is. The genuinely new thing is not in Universal's post at all: 2026 is the first year in roughly a decade that Dufftoberfest is not the only seasonal beer the Duff brand makes.

The end of a ten year monopoly

Springfield's taps have long run on a fixed menu: Duff, Duff Light, and Duff Dry year round, with Dufftoberfest as the single annual exception. That was not an informal observation. Inside Universal stated it flatly in its Dufftoberfest coverage in both August 2024 and August 2025, writing each time that Dufftoberfest remained the only seasonal beer offered under the Duff Beer brand at Universal parks.

That ended in April, when Universal added Happy Sour, a guava sour, to the Duff taps in the Springfield areas at both Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood. No end date was announced for it beyond "seasonal." Dufftoberfest is now the fall entry in a rotation rather than the one thing that ever changes.

Universal has said nothing about what is driving that. Our read: two seasonals in a single year is a modest change, but it is the first break in a pattern that held for ten.

What the November 1 date does and does not mean

The 70 day window lines up with the Halloween season rather than with Oktoberfest. Munich's Oktoberfest, whose history Universal's post invokes at length, runs September 19 through October 4 this year, so for most of Dufftoberfest's run the festival it is named after has not started yet or has already finished.

The Halloween alignment is not a new development, and it is worth being precise about why the window is so long. Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs select nights from August 28 through November 1, and Universal has billed it as the earliest starting and longest HHN it has ever staged. Dufftoberfest ending on November 1 is mostly a consequence of HHN growing, not of Universal stretching a beer promotion. Death Eaters in Diagon Alley and Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle also close November 1.

One caution on that end date: a published November 1 is the announced window, not necessarily last call. In past years the seasonal has simply poured until the kegs ran out, and coverage has found it still available well into the holiday season, in one case as late as early December. If you miss November 1, it may still be worth asking.

The practical difference between the two Halloween offerings favors the beer. HHN 35 is 48 select nights and needs a separate ticket. Dufftoberfest is continuous and included with regular park admission, as are the Death Eaters and Dark Arts offerings, because Springfield sits inside the regular day park.

Hollywood got the Treehouse food. Orlando got the usual beer.

On August 14 we reported that Simpsons showrunner Matt Selman said at D23 that the process of bringing Treehouse of Horror to Universal was beginning, probably with food first and experiences later.

That food has since landed, but not in Florida. On August 19 Universal revealed the first Treehouse of Horror inspired menu for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, including a "Mmm... Forbidden Pumpkin Donut," a "Daddy's Soul Donut" cold brew, "Wurst. Brat. Ever!", a "Sloppy D'oh," and "Road Scrapin's Fries." A Universal representative said this year's Treehouse representation would be purely in food form.

Five days after that, Orlando's Simpsons seasonal announcement arrived, and it is the same limited beer Springfield has run since 2015. Selman's comment was about the Universal experience generally rather than about Orlando specifically, so this is not a broken promise. But it is a real split worth tracking: the Treehouse of Horror push has started, and so far it has started on the West Coast. Universal has given no timeline for an Orlando equivalent. We will be watching Springfield's fall lineup for anything added beyond the beer.

What to expect, and what Universal left out

Universal's post describes the beer, Dufftoberfest themed banners, blue and white checkerboard decor, and photo ops at the Duff Brewery exterior and the Moe's Tavern bar front. It names no food, no price, no brewer, no style, and no ABV. Most of that is publicly known anyway, just not from Universal.

The beer. Reviewers and beer databases describe Dufftoberfest as a Marzen, the traditional Oktoberfest malt style, at 5.5 percent ABV, brewed for Universal by the operation formerly known as Florida Beer Company and now trading as Carib Brewery USA.

Food. Universal spends a paragraph on Oktoberfest's history of "traditional Bavarian fare" and then names nothing. In practice Springfield has paired the seasonal with a soft pretzel and Duff cheese sauce, which outlets reviewed in 2022 and again in 2024, when it was described as returning. Duff Brewery's standing menu also carries a pretzel and a corn dog. Whether the cheese sauce pairing comes back in 2026 is unconfirmed.

Price. Universal has not published one. Menu trackers have listed the seasonal pour a little above the standard Duff drafts, in the range of fourteen dollars against roughly thirteen for the everyday pints. Treat those as tracker figures rather than Universal confirmed 2026 pricing.

Universal's own framing leans hard on promotion, calling it "the hottest beer festival" Springfield has and "well worth the hype." Those are the operator's words about the operator's product. The checkable part of the announcement is the date range, the two venues, and the one beer.

If you are going

The window is long and it opens today. Anyone visiting Universal Studios Florida between now and November 1 can get the beer with regular park admission, no separate ticket and no reservation. If you are attending Halloween Horror Nights, Dufftoberfest is available on your park day as well as your event night, since Springfield is open during regular hours.
