Remy's Ratatouille Adventure Turns Its Old 3D Glasses Pickup Into a Window Full of Scurrying Rat Shadows

The rats have moved into the queue. At EPCOT's France Pavilion, the stretch of wall where guests used to grab 3D glasses before boarding Remy's Ratatouille Adventure is now a glowing window, and behind it, Remy, Emile and their friends are busy hauling dinner.

WDW News Today reported the new effect on Saturday, October 17. It turns a spot that lost its job when the ride went 2D into one more piece of the story.

What the window does

At the old glasses pickup there is now a long backlit window, its frosted panes crossed by dark frames in a diamond pattern. Behind them, animated silhouettes keep moving, as if Remy and the rats from Ratatouille are busy just on the other side of the wall.

According to WDW News Today, the rats move from one end of the window to the other, heading the same way the line moves. Some sequences show Remy and Emile rolling cheese, while other rats carry more food. Because the panes are frosted, you never get a clear look at the characters, only their shadows on the move. As WDW News Today put it, "The effect turns the former glasses distribution area into another storytelling element in the queue."

Why the glasses spot opened up

The pickup area stopped being needed when the ride dropped 3D. Disney announced the conversion in October 2025, closed the attraction from November 10 to 13, 2025 for the work, and reopened it with 2D projections on November 14, 2025. No glasses required.

Disney also promised new props and lighting for the queue and the ride over the following months. The first new props inside the ride turned up in September, a spilled box of pasta during the kitchen sequence and, at the very end of the ride, a cutting board loaded with food and other odds and ends, which we covered at the time. This time, the change is in the queue.

Next time you are in that queue, slow down a little. Did you spot the cheese?
