Disney Has Fully Cleared Tomorrowland's 1994 Entrance Towers at Magic Kingdom, Leaving Bare Rockwork
A familiar sight at the front of Tomorrowland is now officially history. Disney has removed the last of the themed towers that framed the land's entrance at Magic Kingdom since its 1994 makeover, leaving the entryway cleared down to bare, repainted rockwork for the first time in decades.

What changed
The teardown happened in stages. Back in June, Disney took down the rocket-style tower and one of the domed structures that stood at the entrance. A second domed tower, the one near Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, lingered under tarps for a few weeks. As of this week, that final dome is gone too, and the exposed rockwork has been repainted but left without any of the decorative structures that defined the entrance for more than 30 years.

Part of a bigger, quiet reimagining
The tower removal is the most visible piece of what outlets have been tracking as a slow, piece-by-piece reworking of Tomorrowland. The 1994 "New Tomorrowland" overhaul gave the land the retro-future look that many guests grew up with, so stripping the entrance towers is a notable change to a decades-old first impression.
The big caveat: Disney has not announced what, if anything, will replace the towers. There is no official word on a new entrance design, a timeline, or a broader plan for the entrance, so for now the story is simply that the old structures are gone and the entrance looks markedly different.
The bottom line
If you are heading to Magic Kingdom soon, do not expect the Tomorrowland entrance you remember. The towers that greeted guests for over three decades have been cleared away, and until Disney says more, what comes next is anyone's guess.
