It is finally real. After more than a year of Epic Universe operating without a true after-dark show, and weeks of guests catching unofficial glimpses during testing, Universal Celestial Goodnight officially debuted on the night of Tuesday, July 7. Universal's first full nighttime spectacular is now running once a night at park close, and the first opening-night footage is already making the rounds.

What it is

Universal Celestial Goodnight is a roughly 10-minute show that takes over all of Celestial Park, the central hub of Epic Universe, rather than pointing you at a single spot to watch. According to Universal, it uses nearly 600 synchronized light fixtures, more than 350 fountains, and seven million LED lights, all set to an original score and capped by a fireworks finale. It is performed nightly at park close and is included with regular park admission.

The quick facts: Debuted Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Runs about 10 minutes, nightly at park close, in Celestial Park. Nearly 600 light fixtures, more than 350 fountains, seven million LEDs, and a fireworks finale. Included with park admission.

The first reactions

Outlets that attended the debut, including Laughing Place, have already posted full-show video, and early reactions have been positive. First-hand viewers described it less as a stand-and-watch fireworks show and more as a surround experience, with the lights and music pulsating inward from all around Celestial Park so you feel like you are inside the show rather than watching it from a distance. The show pays tribute to the park's worlds, including Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, and Dark Universe.

Why it matters

A nighttime capstone had been one of the most anticipated additions at Epic Universe since it opened in 2025, a proper way to send guests off at the end of the night. With Celestial Goodnight now live, the park finally has its answer, and it slots into a very busy summer of Universal news. If you are visiting, plan to stick around until close at least once to catch it.
