EPCOT Will Close at 9pm During Festival of the Holidays 2026, So Luminous Now Starts After the Park Closes

Your last lap of World Showcase is getting shorter this holiday season. During the 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, EPCOT will close at 9pm, half an hour earlier than it did on every night of last year's festival, and the nightly fireworks now start after the park has already closed.

The 9pm close surfaced about a week ago, when Inside the Magic flagged the shorter holiday hours on September 20 (that report put Luminous at 9pm). What firmed up on Monday morning was the Luminous showtime: Blog Mickey, citing the Walt Disney World operational calendar, and WDW News Today both reported the 9:15pm start. The festival runs November 27 through December 30.

The new hours

• Park hours: 9am to 9pm, per WDW News Today and Disney's published hours (Blog Mickey reports the 9pm close). Early entry for hotel guests begins at 8:30am.
• Luminous: The Symphony of Us: 9:15pm, moved up from 9:30pm, per both outlets.
• Candlelight Processional: 4:45pm, 6:30pm and 8pm at America Gardens Theatre, each 15 minutes earlier than in 2025.

We checked the schedule data ourselves. Disney's published hours, as mirrored by the themeparks.wiki feed, show EPCOT closing at 9pm on every night from November 27 through December 8, which is as far as the calendar currently runs. The same feed shows EPCOT closing at 9:30pm on every night of the 2025 festival, from November 28 through December 30.

What it means on the ground

Blog Mickey sums up the practical effect: rides and shops shut down at 9pm, though anyone already inside can stick around for Luminous. So if you want one more ride, or a final shop stop on the way to your fireworks spot, that now has to happen by 9pm, leaving 15 minutes to settle in along World Showcase Lagoon. The exception is Extended Evening Hours: Disney's published schedule currently lists EPCOT Extended Evening Hours from 9pm to 11pm on Monday, November 30 and Monday, December 7 (the calendar only runs through December 8 so far), when eligible resort hotel guests can keep riding after the general close.

Nine o'clock is EPCOT's normal closing time for most of the year. What changes is the holiday bump. Blog Mickey's theory for why the extra half hour existed is that it gave the America Gardens Theatre time to empty out after the last Candlelight Processional before fireworks started. Disney has not given a reason for dropping it.

Candlelight moves with it

The earlier Candlelight showtimes are not new, as we reported when Disney published the narrator lineup on September 8 (EPCOT's Candlelight Processional Will Start 30 Minutes Earlier in 2026 Than It Did in 2023). What is new is how they line up with the shorter night: the final show now starts at 8pm instead of last year's 8:15pm, ahead of a 9:15pm Luminous.
