Discovery Cove's Early Booking Sale Jumps to 40% Off Through October 4, but the Regular Prices Behind It Went Up

Discovery Cove's early booking sale just got louder. The banner on the park's pricing page now reads "Early Booking Offer: Save 40% on visits through 2027," up from 30% when we covered it on September 2, with a new deadline of Sunday, October 4: "Hurry, offer ends October 4."

Going from 30% off to 40% off should have taken another $28.40 off the Signature Dolphin Swim Package, a tenth of its old $284 crossed-out price. It did not work out that way, because the crossed-out "regular" prices the discount is measured against have gone up since then.

The math, package by package

These are Discovery Cove's "Prices Starting at" figures, per guest, with the crossed-out price after each, first on September 2 (30% off) and then today (40% off). Real prices vary by visit date.

  • Signature Dolphin Swim Package: was $198.80 against $284.00, now $180.00 against $300.00. That is $18.80 cheaper, while the crossed-out price rose $16.
  • Signature Dolphin Swim Package + 2 Parks: was $240.80 against $344.00, now $216.00 against $360.00, $24.80 cheaper.
  • Signature Dolphin Swim Package + 3 Parks: was $254.80 against $364.00, now $228.00 against $380.00, $26.80 cheaper.
  • Day Resort Package: was $149.10 against $213.00, now $139.80 against $233.00. That is $9.30 cheaper, while the crossed-out price rose $20.
  • Day Resort Package + 2 Parks: was $191.10 against $273.00, now $175.80 against $293.00, $15.30 cheaper.
  • Day Resort Package + 3 Parks: was $205.10 against $293.00, now $187.80 against $313.00, $17.30 cheaper.

Every package's starting price is lower today than it was at 30% off, so the sale did lower prices. The cut is just smaller than the jump from 30% to 40% implies. Had the old reference prices held, 40% off would have put the Signature Dolphin Swim at $170.40 and the Day Resort Package at $127.80.

When it changed

Discovery Cove's sitemap shows the pricing page was last modified on September 25, in the same batch of updates as its hotel package and Florida resident rate pages. We do not know what the page showed between the old September 13 deadline and that update, so we cannot say whether the 30% sale ran continuously into the new one.

The fine print

The terms are the same as last time. The offer is for new bookings only and is "Not valid on previously booked reservations or in combination with other offers," so if you already hold a Discovery Cove date, this price does not apply to it.

The two package families differ in one big way: only the Signature Dolphin Swim Packages include the dolphin swim. The + 2 Parks packages add SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando, and the + 3 Parks packages add Busch Gardens Tampa Bay as well. In both cases, park admission is good for up to 14 days around your Discovery Cove visit date.
