Chefs de France Swaps Its Steak Frites for a $58.95 Filet Mignon at EPCOT, and the Braised Pork Shank Is Gone Too

If your EPCOT ritual ends with Steak Frites in the France Pavilion, plan a new order. Chefs de France has dropped the grilled strip loin and fries, and its priciest entree is now a $58.95 filet mignon with a peppercorn sauce.

WDWMagic flagged the changes on Friday morning, and Disney's own online menu for the restaurant already shows the new lineup. Three entrees are out, three are in, and one appetizer costs a dollar more. The changes apply to both the lunch and dinner menus.

What's new

  • Filet de Boeuf, Sauce Au Poivre, $58.95: filet mignon with bacon-wrapped asparagus, potato au gratin and peppercorn sauce.
  • Le Croissant du Boucher, $29.95: a croissant bun stacked with Angus ground beef, alpine cheese and onion confit, finished with mustard aioli.
  • Supreme de Poulet Rôti, $39.95: a roasted chicken supreme with a shallot and Merlot vinegar reduction and potato purée.

What's gone

  • Steak Frites, $55.95: grilled strip loin, french fries and béarnaise sauce.
  • Jarret de Porc Braisé, $39.95: braised heritage pork shank with lentil ragu and pearl onions.
  • Poulet au Vinaigre, $39.95: airline chicken breast in a shallot and red vinegar sauce with tarragon, served with potato purée.

One food price moved as well. The smoked salmon blini appetizer, Blinis de Saumon Fumé, went from $18.95 to $19.95.

The math on your steak

The simplest way to read the change is as a steak upgrade with a $3 surcharge. The old headline beef dish was a strip loin at $55.95. Its replacement is a filet at $58.95, and it trades the fries and béarnaise for asparagus wrapped in bacon, potato au gratin and a peppercorn sauce.

There is a cheaper way into the beef side of the adult entree list now, too. At $29.95, Le Croissant du Boucher costs $10 less than Boeuf Bourguignon, which stays on the menu at $39.95. The new and departing chicken entrees are an even swap at $39.95 each, with the new roasted supreme taking the place of the airline breast in vinegar sauce.

What did not change

The Menu Francais prix fixe is still $67.95 for an appetizer, an entree, a dessert and a glass of wine or a non-alcoholic drink. Disney's listing gives the same five entree choices as WDWMagic's August copy of the menu: Filet de saumon, Gratin de macaroni, Ratatouille sur quinoa, Poulet Cordon Bleu and Boeuf Bourguignon. The new filet is not one of them, so the prix fixe is not a back door to the $58.95 steak.

Staples such as the Soupe à l'oignon gratinée, the escargots and the Crème Brûlée are still on Disney's menu at their old prices.
