Orlando's hometown Big 12 team is getting a little pixie dust on the back of its head. Starting Saturday, every UCF football helmet will carry the Walt Disney World logo on its rear bumper, and it stays there for the rest of the season.

Disney and UCF Athletics showed off the helmet on Friday, September 25. It first goes on the field Saturday, September 26, for the Knights' Big 12 opener against TCU at Acrisure Bounce House, and UCF says that debut comes in front of a nationally televised audience. UCF notes it is also the Horned Frogs' first visit to the Bounce House.

Where the logo goes

Look at the back of the helmet, not the sides. The UCF logo is still on the sides in the release photos. The Disney addition is the white Walt Disney World script, running across the black rear bumper at the bottom edge of the shell. In the release photos it shares the back of the gold helmet with an American flag decal and a Big 12 sticker carrying the Monster Energy logo.

UCF says the logo will be on "each UCF football helmet this season," beginning with the TCU game.

What the two sides said

UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Terry Mohajir said in the release: "Walt Disney World is part of the fabric of Central Florida, and we are incredibly proud to feature its logo on our football helmets." He added that the school appreciates "Walt Disney World's investment in UCF Athletics."

For Disney, Sivonne Davis, Vice President of Marketing Strategy at Walt Disney World Resort, said: "We are excited to see the Walt Disney World logo on the Knights' helmets as they compete for the Big 12 Conference championship and beyond."

Neither side put a price on the deal. The release headline calls it a sponsorship and Mohajir called it Disney's "investment in UCF Athletics," but neither the release nor either statement gives a dollar figure or any terms beyond this season.

Why UCF and Disney

The release leans on the local connection. It points to "thousands of UCF students and graduates," many of whom have been through Disney's student outreach programs or ended up working for the company. Davis called it a way to "expand on our longstanding relationship."

The release photos also have some fun with the setting. Besides the castle shots, one release image has the gold helmet balanced on the hilt of a sword set in an anvil, with a warm row of carousel-style lights glowing behind it, which looks a lot like a Fantasyland photo spot.

If you are heading to the Bounce House on Saturday, UCF says the logo will be on the back of each Knights football helmet. Look for the white script on the rear bumper when the Knights turn around.
