Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace Now Closed Through Mid-December, Disney's Third Reopening Target for the Polynesian Patio

Late October is here, and the patio is staying shut. Disney has moved the reopening target for Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort again, this time to mid-December.

BlogMickey reported the change on Tuesday, October 27, and quoted Disney's updated wording: "Through mid-December, Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort will be temporarily closed due to refurbishment work at the Great Ceremonial House."

Just a week ago, the same notice still said "Through late October," as we noted in our October 20 look at the Polynesian construction timeline.

Third target, about eight months dark by mid-December

Here is how the date has moved, per BlogMickey:

  • Original window: mid-April to late June.
  • April 18: the terrace closed to guests as scaffolding covered the Great Ceremonial House's north side.
  • July 14: with late June come and gone, Disney moved the target to late October.
  • October 27: the target moves to mid-December.

If this date holds, the terrace will have been closed for about eight months, and it would reopen before the holiday season peaks.

The indoor bar is still pouring

The closure covers only the outdoor terrace. BlogMickey says the indoor Trader Sam's Grog Grotto has stayed open throughout the work, so the tiki bar itself is still an option on a Polynesian visit.

The terrace is only one piece of the resort's construction. Disney's broader notice already runs into early 2027, including the reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway, and it tells guests to budget extra time for getting into and out of the resort.

Do you think mid-December sticks, or does the Tiki Terrace slip into 2027 with the rest of the Polynesian work?
