Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance just joined the after-hours party at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The ride is now on the list of attractions for the park's Extended Evening Hours, the 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. bonus session for guests at Disney's deluxe resorts and a few other select hotels.

WDW News Today reported the change on Friday, October 9, writing: "Previously, the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge ride closed during Extended Evening Hours." When we checked Disney's Extended Evening Theme Park Hours page on Saturday, October 10, Rise of the Resistance was listed among the Hollywood Studios attractions "scheduled to be in operation."

Eight rides in September, nine now

When Hollywood Studios picked up a Wednesday Extended Evening session on September 16, its first since May, WDW News Today listed eight attractions for it, and Rise of the Resistance was not one of them. The themeparks.wiki feed shows more Studios sessions since then, on September 23, September 30 and October 7, and none in the three months before.

Disney's page now lists nine for the park:

That means both Galaxy's Edge rides now run during the session, alongside Slinky Dog Dash, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror.

The next two nights

WDW News Today lists two Hollywood Studios dates, both from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.:

  • Wednesday, October 14
  • Wednesday, October 28

The themeparks.wiki schedule feed, which pulls from Disney's park hours, also shows 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Extended Evening sessions at Hollywood Studios on both dates. WDW News Today notes that Extended Evening Hours usually land at Magic Kingdom on Wednesdays, and ties the Hollywood Studios dates to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party taking over Magic Kingdom on select fall nights.

Who gets in

Extended Evening Hours are a perk for registered guests at Disney Deluxe Resorts, Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts and a handful of other hotels: the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green. The upcoming Disney's Lakeshore Lodge is already on the Deluxe Villa list. Disney says you need valid admission plus a MagicBand, Disney MagicMobile pass or Key to the World Card.

Disney's page also says "This popular benefit will continue through 2027!" It adds the usual caveat: "Please note that attractions are subject to change and may not always be operational."

If you are staying at a participating hotel on one of those Wednesdays, would you spend the session on Rise, or on Slinky Dog Dash and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster?
