Tiana's Bayou Adventure Is Penciled In for December 18, So the Flume Misses Thanksgiving but Makes Christmas Week
Tiana's Bayou Adventure finally has a date to circle. The refurbishment calendar in My Disney Experience now has the Magic Kingdom log flume back in service on Friday, December 18, seven days ahead of Christmas.
WDWMagic reported it first on Friday morning, October 9. Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Tiana's Bayou General "have been removed from the closure listing starting that date," the site reported, and WDW News Today and Blog Mickey followed within the half hour.

The closure, start to finish
The dates now bracket the whole job:
- Closes: Monday, November 2, 2026
- Back, per the refurbishment calendar: Friday, December 18, 2026
- Length: about six and a half weeks
That means anyone visiting over Thanksgiving (November 26) should not plan on riding. If the calendar date sticks, a Christmas week trip lines up with the reopening.
When we first reported the November closure, the refurbishment calendar showed no return date, and the only guidance was a general December 2026 window. This is the first specific date.
Not official yet
Treat December 18 as likely rather than locked. WDWMagic notes that "Disney has not officially confirmed the date yet," and explains that attraction hours are not posted that far out, so official confirmation is probably "another 10 days or so" away. It adds that a calendar removal like this "is typically a reliable indicator" of a return.
Disney's own attraction page has not caught up either. When we checked it on Friday evening, it still said the ride "is expected to reopen in December 2026," with no day attached.

What about the gift shops?
Tiana's Bayou General, the ride's exit shop, closes November 2 with the ride (Blog Mickey and WDW News Today agree) and comes back with it on December 18, according to WDWMagic and WDW News Today.
Critter Co-Op is less clear. Our earlier report, like WDWMagic's, listed it as closing on November 2 too, and WDWMagic's latest story still does. Blog Mickey now says the ride's exit shop "will close alongside the ride, while Critter Co-Op stays open." WDW News Today's report mentions only Tiana's Bayou General. If shopping there matters to your trip, check My Disney Experience closer to your dates.
Why the first refurbishment matters
The ride has not had a full refurbishment since its June 28, 2024 debut in Frontierland, where Splash Mountain used to be. Disney calls it a "routine refurbishment" on the attraction page and has not said what the work covers. WDWMagic points to routine flume upkeep in Florida's climate and to "ongoing issues with some of its 48 Audio-Animatronics figures since opening." Blog Mickey puts it more bluntly, saying the figures and other effects "have struggled since it opened."

So here is the real question for December 18: do you expect every animatronic to be working when it comes back, or are you just happy to get a log flume back for Christmas week?
