Wilderness Lodge's Guest Rooms Get Refurbished July to September 2027, and Its Main Pool Follows in Early 2028

Wilderness Lodge has been under exterior refurbishment since August 2024, and Disney has now laid out what comes after it. The guest rooms are next, then the big pool with the waterslide.

Blog Mickey reported the new schedule on Thursday, November 5. Here is the timeline it laid out. Apart from the exterior start date, Disney's new dates come by month, not by day.

The schedule

• Now through late 2026: exterior refurbishment at Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins, which began on August 5, 2024.
• July through September 2027: guest rooms in the main Wilderness Lodge hotel are refurbished.
• January through spring 2028: Copper Creek Springs Pool gets its turn. It is the resort's headline pool, the one with the waterslide.

In Blog Mickey's words, "From July 2027 through September 2027, guest rooms at Disney's Wilderness Lodge will undergo refurbishment." For the pool, "Disney plans to refurbish it from January 2028 through Spring 2028."

What it means if you are booking

Summer 2027: the work moves indoors, to the hotel rooms. Blog Mickey thinks it "seems like it'll be a soft goods refurbishment," and says projects like that tend to be lighter and quicker. That is Blog Mickey's read, not Disney's, and the dates Blog Mickey reported do not say how many rooms will be out of service at once.

Early 2028: do not count on the waterslide while its pool is being refurbished. Copper Creek Springs is the pool getting the refurb, and the resort's second pool, Boulder Ridge Cove, stays available.

Right now: the exterior project is not done yet. The notice Blog Mickey quotes for current guests still says, "Guests may experience obstructed views in some areas and may see or hear construction during daytime hours." Disney's own Wilderness Lodge page also carried a "This Resort hotel is currently undergoing construction and refurbishments." alert when we checked on Thursday evening, though its details panel did not load the dates for us.

The Copper Creek side already had its turn

The Disney Vacation Club villas and cabins at Copper Creek had their own refurbishment window from mid-May through September 2025, Blog Mickey notes, so the 2027 room work is about the deluxe hotel rooms. Add it all up and, by spring 2028, the exteriors, the villas, the hotel rooms and the main pool will all have had fresh work in less than four years.
