Disney's Interactive Ewok Debuts at Disneyland August 13, and the Full Batuu Adventure Buddies Collection Is Coming to Hollywood Studios

Disney is adding a giggling, LCD-eyed Ewok to the lineup at Droid Depot, and it can interact with the droids sold in the same shop.

The Disney Parks Blog announced the Batuu Adventure Buddies collection on Friday, August 7. The first of three toys, an interactive Ewok with LCD eyes and motorized facial expressions, goes on sale August 13, 2026, inside Droid Depot at Disneyland park. Disney says the full collection will land in Orlando afterward, but it has not given a date.

It responds to where you poke it. A single head tap, or a double belly tap, pulls a random response from the toy. Three quick consecutive head taps unlock two special animations. Endor Dance Party runs rhythmic eye animations with Ewokese chanting and drumming, and Disney says nearby Ewoks may chime in. Forest Call Chain, which is then triggered by a rapid double belly tap near other toys, lets out a scout call that nearby toys answer in their own languages.

The gear costs extra. Three themed packs are sold separately. The Endor set has a spear, a battle horn, a grilled fish, and an Endor issue poncho. The Mandalore set has a Mythosaur axe, Nummies, Beskar chest armor, and a shoulder cape. The Batuu set has a YT-1300 freighter model, an All-Kit tool, a Ronto Wrap, and a Batuuan poncho (Disney's blog post spells it "Bantuuan," but the retail box in Disney's own photo reads "Batuuan"). These are not just props. Disney says the food, toys, and tools in the gear sets attach to the toy's left hand, where they set off their own animations, sounds, and reactions.

Buying one comes with a small ceremony. The purchase starts at a dedicated wall bay inside Droid Depot, which Blog Mickey reports is separate from the build stations. A cast member helps pick the companion and the accessories, and then, in Disney's telling, guests take part in "a special activation moment that brings their new friend to life for the very first time."

The Orlando part is a promise, not a date. Here is exactly how Disney worded it: "At a later date, the other two buddies will become available at Disneyland, and the full collection will debut at Disney's Hollywood Studios." So the August 13 date belongs to Disneyland, and only to the Ewok. Disney has not announced when the collection reaches Florida, has not said which two characters round out the trio, and has not published a price for the Ewok or for any of the gear packs.

Disney also recaps the build-your-own droid experience. The same post walks through the original experience, which still offers four models: BB-Series, R-Series, C-Series, and A-LT-Series. Guests check in with a cast member, take a blueprint and a metal basket, gather parts off the conveyor belt, and assemble at a build station. Disney also notes that inside the shop, only the person named as the droid's builder is allowed to put it together.

The in-universe explanation. Disney credits the new toys to "a scrappy crew of Anzellan manufacturers," the tiny species best known in Star Wars for the droidsmith Babu Frik. Disney did not explain the choice any further, but read it as narrative housekeeping: the credit puts a cuddly Ewok in a droid shop without breaking the story of what Droid Depot is supposed to be.
