ESPN8: The Ocho Returns to Disney World This Friday With Free Admission and Free Parking for 10 Live Competitions
ESPN8: The Ocho takes over ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Friday, August 7, and the entire day costs nothing to attend. Disney said in a Disney Parks Blog post published Wednesday that admission and parking are both free, and that 10 live competitions will run back to back from mid morning into the evening. It is the second straight year the complex has served as the home base for the event.
The basics: Friday, August 7 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Free admission and complimentary parking. Ten live competitions on a published grid that runs 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fan Zones sit inside The Stadium and AdventHealth Arena.

The full schedule, hour by hour
Disney published the lineup as a list of competitions, and ESPN Wide World of Sports published it as a clock. Here is the grid both sources agree on for Friday:
- 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., 2026 Big League Wiffle Ball World Series
- 11 a.m. to noon, Donk Toss
- Noon to 1 p.m., Turf Wars Adult Kickball
- 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., 2026 Roofball U.S. Open
- 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Combat Archery All Stars
- 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., 2026 Housekeeping Games
- 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., USA Dodgeball
- 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., The Popdarts Championship
- 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Pop-A-Shot 2026 National Championship
- 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., Slippery Stairs: Primetime Chaos Tour
Read that list twice and the gap stands out. Nothing is scheduled between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Every other hour from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. carries a competition, which makes the 1 p.m. hour the natural window to eat, move between venues, or get out of the August heat. Neither Disney nor ESPN Wide World of Sports explains the gap, and the complex notes that sports and times are subject to change.
There is one more wrinkle in the timing. ESPN says its release covers more than 11 hours of original programming from the complex, which is slightly more than the published 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. grid accounts for, so the broadcast day may stretch past the last listed competition.
The event Disney's own lineup skips
Disney's post breaks the day into three new competitions (Donk Toss, Roofball and the Housekeeping Games) and six returning favorites (Slippery Stairs, Combat Archery, Dodgeball, the Big League Wiffle Ball World Series, Popdarts and Pop-A-Shot). Add those up and you get nine, not the 10 live sporting events Disney promises earlier in the same post.
The missing tenth is Turf Wars Adult Kickball, which holds the noon hour on the schedule grid at the bottom of Disney's own post but appears in neither the new list nor the returning list. It is a small inconsistency, though it matters if you are building a day around a specific event: the noon hour is spoken for even though the lineup copy never mentions it.

The live day is one piece of a four day broadcast
Disney's post frames Friday as a day out at Walt Disney World, and mentions only that many of the competitions will air across ESPN platforms. ESPN's own announcement is broader: The Ocho runs Thursday, August 6 through Sunday, August 9 across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and the ESPN App, with 74.5 hours of programming in total.
That distinction is worth holding onto. The 10 competitions at the complex are the live, in person slice. The rest of the 74.5 hours is television, including events that have nothing to do with Walt Disney World. If you are deciding whether to drive out to the complex, the schedule above is the part that applies to you.
Getting there, and the one cost that is not free
Parking at the complex is complimentary for the event, which makes driving the genuinely free option. Disney also points guests staying on property to Minnie Van Service through the Lyft app. That is a convenience, not a freebie: Minnie Van is a paid point to point service, and the fare is separate from anything about Friday being a free event.
Disney does not mention a ticket or a reservation, and ESPN Wide World of Sports describes The Ocho as free to attend and open to the public. The complex does invite fans to sign up for its Know Before You Go updates ahead of the day, which is the closest thing to a registration step on either page.

What it is worth to a planner
The Ocho is not a park day and does not pretend to be one. Its value is in what it costs, which is nothing but the drive and the hours. For anyone already on property on Friday with a soft afternoon, or anyone weighing a fifth park day against a free one, an 11 hour stretch of Wiffle Ball, foam tipped arrows and a soaked staircase is a real alternative that does not touch a ticket or a Lightning Lane budget.
The Fan Zones are the part most likely to matter for families. Disney describes limited Ocho merchandise, photo ops and a chance to try some of the games; ESPN Wide World of Sports adds that fans can meet athletes and pick up giveaways there. Both put them inside The Stadium and AdventHealth Arena, so they are easy to find between competitions.
The Ocho takes its name from the fictional ESPN8 channel in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and Disney says this year marks its 10th anniversary. Last year was the first time the complex hosted it, and Friday is the second.
