Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights has been Klown-free since 2019. That streak is ending. Universal confirmed on July 16 that Killer Klowns from Outer Space are coming to the streets of Halloween Horror Nights 35.

The announcement came from Universal's official Halloween Horror Nights accounts, @HorrorNightsORL on X and Instagram. It opened with "Klown around and find out," said the Klowns are coming to the street of Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights, closed with "More deets coming soon," and carried a teaser image.

Seven years away from Orlando

The Klowns first landed at Universal Orlando as a scare zone in 2018, then graduated to a full haunted house in 2019 at both Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood. The house came back in 2022, but only on the Hollywood side. Orlando has gone without them ever since, seven years by the time HHN 35 opens. The property comes from the 1988 sci-fi horror comedy about alien invaders who look like circus clowns and harvest people into cotton candy.

Streets rather than a house usually points to a scare zone, and many outlets covering the teaser have described it that way, but Universal has not used the term, released a name, or given a description.

A carnival year, which is not a coincidence

HHN 35's announced scare zones so far lean into carnival horror, a natural fit for a property built around alien circus clowns. The first was Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, which Universal describes this way: "Step right up and discover what horrors hide in every shadow at this sinister spectacle decades in the making." The second was Sideshow of Decay, in which Cindy uses Dr. Oddfellow's dark sorcery to open a portal in the carnival's junkyard and resurrect decayed nightmares from the past. Cindy is the daughter of The Caretaker and has been a piece of Halloween Horror Nights lore since she was dropped as the event's planned 2002 icon. Universal's official lineup page still lists only those two, so the Klowns would make three.

What else is confirmed for HHN 35

Universal's official lineup currently lists eight haunted houses: Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, Sinners, Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser, H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!, MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals, Cybergoria, and INVASION: Alien Abduction. Two shows are confirmed, Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir and Stranger Things: Return to Hawkins.

Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026, at Universal Studios Florida, with Premium Scream Night on August 27 and October 19.
