Universal's New Permits Give Halloween Horror Nights 2027 Locations Breakfast Codenames, From Pancake to Grits

Halloween Horror Nights 35 closed on November 1. Next year's house locations may already have names, at least the paperwork kind, and they sound like a diner menu.

According to Blog Mickey, Universal Studios Florida has ten new permit applications that look like they cover next year's haunted house locations, and "Each one has a breakfast-themed codename." The site says they went in as Halloween Horror Nights 35 was winding down.

The full breakfast menu

Blog Mickey's list, with the HHN 35 house each location held this year in parentheses:

  • Soundstage 22: Pancake (Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control)
  • Soundstage 23A: Syrup (Evil Dead Burn)
  • Soundstage 23B: Waffle (Stranger Things 5)
  • Soundstage 24A: Oatmeal (Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness)
  • Soundstage 24B: Mimosa (MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals)
  • Fast and Furious building: Hash (Cybergoria)
  • Tent 1: Porridge (INVASION: Alien Abduction)
  • Tent 2: Yogurt (H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!)
  • B138A: Toast (Hellraiser)
  • B138B: Grits (Sinners)

All ten of this year's house locations are on the list, with breakfast names this time instead of vehicles.

This year it was vehicles

Universal usually picks one theme for its house codenames each year, and they tend to show up in permits before anything is announced. This year's set was transportation. As we reported in our August look at the HHN 35 codenames, Blog Mickey found ten of them in March, including Shuttle, Wagon and Helicopter, and a lights-on tour that Inside Universal reported on in August later tied three to their houses: INVASION: Alien Abduction was Shuttle, H.R. Bloodengutz was Wagon, and Hellraiser was Tractor.

Even Inside Universal called some of those links a stretch, so do not read too much into a single word. Blog Mickey puts it plainly: "the permits don't say what the themes of each house will be, just the codenames."

One caution on sourcing: Blog Mickey did not publish permit numbers, and we have not seen the filings ourselves. The codenames and locations above are as Blog Mickey reported them.

What comes next

Nothing official yet. As of November 3, Universal has not announced a single Halloween Horror Nights 2027 house, or even the event's dates, and codenames are placeholders for construction, not titles. Blog Mickey expects the fan theories to come first, with Universal's official reveals arriving next year.

Meanwhile, the speculation is open. Which breakfast is hiding the biggest house: Mimosa, Hash or Grits? Make your case.
