Aquatica Said Illuminate Would Return Brighter Than Ever, but Two Weeks Before Last Year's Opening, It Still Has No 2026 Dates

Last year at this time, Aquatica Orlando's glowing lantern festival had already been on sale for more than a week. This year, Aquatica has not posted dates yet.

Illuminate, the after-hours walk-through lantern festival Aquatica introduced in 2025, has no 2026 dates and no tickets as of Sunday, October 25. That is roughly two weeks before the date it opened last year, and more than eight months after Aquatica said it was coming back.

What Aquatica promised

In a February 3, 2026 press release about its plans for the year, Aquatica listed Illuminate under "Signature Events, Reimagined," saying "Aquatica's most popular seasonal events return in 2026 with new energy and even more reasons to visit." The Illuminate line read: "ILLUMINATE, Aquatica's winter celebration, returns shining brighter than ever with expanded lighting and lantern displays."

What the website shows now

  • The Illuminate page: it still reads "This event has ended. Check back for new dates in 2026!" with no ticket option.
  • The events page: Aquatica's events listing shows a single "2027 Events" heading with two entries, Aloha to Summer (March to May 2027) and AquaGlow (May to September 2027). Illuminate is not on it.
  • No announcement: we found no press release or news report announcing 2026 dates, and Aquatica's October 2026 Pass Member News does not mention Illuminate.

None of that means Illuminate is cancelled. The event page still points to new dates in 2026, and last year the festival was announced just 23 days before it opened. But if you were planning a November visit around it, there is nothing to book yet.

How last year went

For comparison, here is last year's timeline. The Orlando Sentinel reported the new event on Thursday, October 16, 2025, and an archived copy of Aquatica's Illuminate page from that day was already selling tickets. According to the Sentinel, the festival ran on 42 select nights, "primarily weekends," between November 8 and January 31, with tickets from $29.99 to $31.99 depending on date.

Aquatica's Illuminate page still describes last season's five realms: AquaLuma, Candy Cascade Falls, Enchanted Lagoon, Myst Wood Waters and Rivers of Discovery. The same weekend as last year's opening would fall on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

We will update this as soon as Aquatica posts dates. Did you go to Illuminate last year, and would you go back?
