SeaWorld Orlando's Ultimate VIP Tour Drops to $550 From $600, but the 10% Pass Member Discount Is Gone

In the image that opens SeaWorld Orlando's Ultimate VIP Tour page (the still frame for its hero video), the sign over the VIP Entrance reads "We love our Pass Holders!" The tour that starts there no longer gives Pass Members a discount.

SeaWorld's Ultimate VIP Tour page now lists the tour from $550 per person, $50 less than the $600 it showed in every Internet Archive capture from May through July 16. The price has moved before: the booking panel in captures from February and March showed discounted prices of $500 and $550 against a struck-through $650, while today's $550 carries no struck-through price. The page also no longer offers the 10% Pass Member discount, and it now makes a second guide free for big groups. SeaWorld's sitemap shows the page was last updated on October 16. We found no announcement from SeaWorld about the changes, and since the archive has no capture between July 16 and now, we cannot say exactly when each one landed.

Cheaper for most, pricier for Pass Members

In July, the tour's FAQ asked "Do Pass Members get a discount on VIP Tours?" and answered "Yes! Pass Members save 10% on select tours and in-park experiences." That question is gone. In its place: "Is the VIP Tour eligible for any discounts?" The answer now reads: "Some seasonal promotions are able to be used for the Ultimate VIP Tour. There are no available discounts for Pass Members, military, large groups, or otherwise at this time."

Do the math and the lower price is not a win for everyone. If the old 10% applied to this tour, a Pass Member paid $540 a person. Now they pay $550, the same as everyone else. For guests without a pass, a group of four pays $200 less for the tour than it would have this summer.

Park admission is still not included. SeaWorld's page says it is "required and not included with VIP purchase," so the $550 sits on top of your ticket or pass.

What else changed

  • A free second guide for big groups: parties of 11 or more still need an extra tour guide, but the page now says it "will be complimentarily added to your tour!" In July it "can be added to your reservation," with SeaWorld pointing to its Add-Ons page for "This and other optional upgrades." The booking fine print has not caught up, though. It still says "Additional rates may apply for party sizes larger than 10," so confirm with a VIP coordinator before booking a big group.
  • A new behind-the-scenes stop: the sample itinerary adds "Go Behind the Scenes at Pacific Point Preserve," where guests meet sea lions and harbor seals "in an area of their habitat where only our VIP guests get to visit." It sits right after the sea lion meet and feed, and it was not on the July itinerary.
  • Guides on rides: the July FAQ said your guide could ride with your group when parents or guardians could not or chose not to. The new wording says a guide can join "upon request," and adds that "Guides may choose not to participate in rides based on their level of comfort."
  • Animal encounter requests: in July, SeaWorld said it would do its best to honor your animal encounter preferences, though experiences could be adjusted for the animals' needs. The new FAQ says the included animal experiences "cannot be changed" because the animal care teams and seasonal availability decide them, though you can skip one to make time for something else.
  • Tour extensions: the July page mentioned being able to "extend your tour duration at a discounted VIP rate." The new page drops that line, and points to animal encounter upgrades on the VIP Add-Ons page instead.

What the $550 still covers

The list of what the tour includes has not changed. SeaWorld lists a private guide for roughly seven hours, line-skipping access to every ride and attraction, reserved seats at select shows and presentations, close-up animal encounters, a three-course lunch or dinner at Sharks Underwater Grill, a second meal at another participating restaurant, unlimited non-alcoholic drinks and select snacks, PhotoKey, and preferred VIP parking with a dedicated entrance. The orca meet and greet is still billed as the highlight of the tour.

The fine print still requires at least two paying guests age 3 or older. Kids younger than 3 go free but still need a reservation, anyone under 18 must come with a paying adult, and cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice are not refunded.

One thing to know before you book: the sample itinerary still includes a ride on Mako, which SeaWorld closed after a rider died on Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia and which was still listed as closed on Sunday morning while Kraken and Manta were running. Check with the VIP coordinators at 407-363-2381 about what your day will include.

Is $550 a person (plus admission) worth a full day with a private guide, or does losing the Pass Member discount take you out of the running?
