Legoland Florida's Galacticoaster Is Getting 356 Halloween LEGO Elements, Including a Jack-O-Lantern Hood Ornament

The spaceship you design before riding Galacticoaster is about to be allowed a Jack-O-Lantern hood ornament.

Legoland is adding a Halloween overlay to the indoor family coaster that opened in Winter Haven back in February, and what the parks have detailed so far is not new scenery. It is 356 new Halloween LEGO elements dropped into the ride's build-your-own-spacecraft system, which means the seasonal change starts on the touchscreen before you board and then follows you onto the track.

Quick facts: Galacticoaster opened at Legoland Florida on February 27, 2026, in the new LEGO Galaxy area. Riders work in teams of four to pick a nose, tail, wings and a special feature, for more than 625 spacecraft combinations. The Halloween overlay adds 356 elements. The overlay run in circulation, September 19 through November 1, 2026, matches Legoland California's Brick or Treat calendar, not Florida's.

Three of the new elements, and where they came from

Attractions Magazine, which reported the overlay on August 14, listed three of the new customization options, and two of the three reach back into LEGO's own parts history.

The first is a vehicle inspired by the LEGO Monster Fighters theme, given a galactic color scheme, with a ghostly BOO tucked onto the back of the ship. The second is a nose styled like a classic roadster with an exposed engine, built out of six bone elements. Those bones are a nod to the same pieces used on The Vampyre Hearse, the 2012 LEGO Monster Fighters set numbered 9464.

The third is the hood ornament. It is a Jack-O-Lantern, and while that piece turns up all over Halloween sets now, Attractions Magazine traces its debut to the 2015 LEGO Scooby-Doo line, where it served as the Headless Horseman's head.

That is a lot of LEGO parts history to bolt onto a coaster car.

What is not changing, and what nobody has said

The ride itself stays the ride. Attractions Magazine reports that the thrills are unchanged, and says it is currently unknown whether the overlay also touches the attraction's visuals, audio or anything else. Legoland California has said the overlay is meant to return in future seasons rather than being a one year stunt.

The Florida wrinkle is worth flagging plainly, because the announcement came out of Legoland California, which opened its own LEGO Galaxy land and its own Galacticoaster this year. Attractions Magazine says it went to Legoland Florida directly and was told the Winter Haven version of Galacticoaster is getting the Halloween elements too. The run dates it published, September 19 through November 1, are not attributed to either park in the article.

Those dates are California's. Legoland California's own event page lists Brick or Treat on select dates from September 19 through November 1, 2026, which is the exact window Attractions Magazine published. That same California page also advertises the ride change outright, under a "NEW! Halloween Spaceship Elements for Galacticoaster" banner promising a "mischievous seasonal upgrade" to the ride's customization options this fall. Legoland Florida's Brick or Treat runs September 5 through October 31, 2026, per both the park's press release and its own event calendar. So the window in circulation starts two weeks after Florida's event opens and runs a day past its close, which is what you would expect from dates lifted off the California announcement. Legoland Florida's own Brick or Treat page does not mention the overlay at all, let alone dates for it, so treat the Winter Haven schedule as unknown until the park says so.

The bigger Brick or Treat picture

The overlay is landing on top of a Halloween season Legoland Florida already expanded this year. Brick or Treat turns the park into Mischief Town on select dates from September 5 through October 31, and the headline addition is Brick or Treat Street, a walkthrough neighborhood of six life sized LEGO Monster homes, each one built around a LEGO Minifigures character. Merlin's press release says the event is included with general admission and annual passes, while the park's own event page lists it as included with tickets and select passes.

Adding a seasonal layer to a ride that opened in February is fast, and Attractions Magazine called it impressive that the overlay comes so soon after LEGO Galaxy opened. It also plays to what Galacticoaster was built around, which is letting the spacecraft be different every time. Come fall, for part of the season, it can be haunted.
