May the 4th: Disney's Hollywood Studios Drops a $30 Light-Up Jabba's Sail Barge Popcorn Bucket with a Hidden Crew Inside

Look at any Galaxy's Edge merch drop and you can usually predict the shape: a sipper, a lightsaber hilt, a creature plush. Today's May the 4th drop at Disney's Hollywood Studios is a different animal. Disney just released a $30 light-up Jabba's Sail Barge popcorn bucket modeled after the Khetanna from Return of the Jedi, and tucked inside the hull is a tiny lit-up tableau of Jabba, Salacious B. Crumb, C-3PO, and R2-D2 mid-scene.

It is the kind of object that makes the souvenir-bucket arms race feel genuinely fun again.

The bucket itself

  • Price: $30 at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
  • Model: Jabba's sail barge, the Khetanna, from Return of the Jedi. Brown hull, oversized red sails, two mounted blasters along the deck.
  • The hidden bit: A built-in light reveals a four-character tableau inside the vessel: Jabba the Hutt, Salacious B. Crumb, C-3PO, and R2-D2, all illuminated through the windows.
  • Strap: Brown with an orange border and the Desilijic clan symbol (the same tattoo on Jabba's arm).
  • Filling: Comes pre-loaded with spicy cheese popcorn. The back of the barge opens for popcorn or other items, which makes it a functional bucket on top of being a display piece.

How to actually buy one today

The release mechanic is split between mobile order and an in-park stand:

  • Today (Monday May 4) and Tuesday (May 5): Mobile order only via the My Disney Experience app at the souvenir release store. Limit two per person, per transaction.
  • Wednesday (May 6) onward: Available at Kat Saka's Kettle in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, while supplies last. Same two-per-person, per-transaction cap.

If you are at the park today, the mobile-order route is the play. Kat Saka's Kettle volume on Wednesday is going to be heavy and the Disney Parks Blog merch event is also funneling people there for the broader May 4 specialty drop.

The rest of the May 4 lineup at Hollywood Studios

The Sail Barge bucket is the headliner, but the park is running a full Star Wars Day program:

  • Specialty merch event at Vacation Fun (the venue is otherwise closed for a multi-month refurbishment, but is hosting the May 4 merch event). Virtual queue at 7 a.m. ET at DHS and 9 a.m. ET at Disney Springs.
  • Star Wars PhotoPass Magic Shots across Galaxy's Edge are only available until 4 p.m. ET today. Five named shots end early: Grogu Force, Grogu Cookie, Chopper, Holopuck, and Porg.
  • Food and novelty debuts: a "Your Chosen Path" cupcake at Backlot Express, Pink Milk at the Milk Stand, plus sibling novelty drops (a Bantha Sipper and the Salvaged Protocol Droid Bucket).
  • Paper guide handed out in-park, pointing guests to the Star Wars Day offerings across Galaxy's Edge and Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.

Quick planner notes

  • Mobile order today. The friction-free path to the bucket on May 4 is the My Disney Experience app, not a queue.
  • Two per person. No stockpiling, no resale-tier loadouts.
  • Light test it. Switch the interior light on before you walk it back to your hotel; the four-character tableau is the whole point.
  • Pair the PhotoPass shots with morning rope drop. The Magic Shots vanish at 4 p.m. ET, so do them before lunch and circle back to the merch and food in the afternoon.
  • Bantha Sipper, Salvaged Protocol Droid Bucket. Both are out today as the supporting cast if the Sail Barge is sold out by the time you get there.
