Disney Reveals The Wetlands Pool Area at Lakeshore Lodge with Lakeside Lagoon, Daydream River, and Pocahontas Theming
Disney Parks Blog dropped a first look today at the recreation area for the in-development Disney Lakeshore Lodge, the 967-room resort coming to the south shores of Bay Lake in summer 2027. The whole pool complex has a name (The Wetlands), each sub-area has a name, and the kid zones are themed to a Pocahontas lyric.

The headlines:
- Recreation area name: The Wetlands.
- Feature pool: Lakeside Lagoon (zero-entry, spiral waterslide).
- Lazy river: Daydream River.
- Kid play areas: Heron Shores (climbing/play) and Otter Springs (interactive water features), both themed to the line "the heron and the otter are my friends" from Colors of the Wind.
- Leisure pool with fireworks views: Perspective Pond, with a whirlpool spa, sited on the opposite side of the resort.
- Opens: Summer 2027. The resort itself is a 967-room property with studios, suites, and one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses.
What the reveal actually shows
Per the Disney Parks Blog post by Elyssa Esposito on June 17, 2026, the pool area carries a unified name and theme: The Wetlands, with each space individually branded. Lakeside Lagoon is the centerpiece, described by Disney as the heart of The Wetlands, with a zero-entry feature pool and a spiral waterslide. Daydream River is the lazy river that, per Disney, "will invite guests to sit back and relax as the current carries them through the recreation area."
The kid spaces lean into a Pocahontas reference. Heron Shores is a climbing and play area for kids; Otter Springs is an interactive water-feature zone for the same age group. Disney explicitly cites the Colors of the Wind lyric "the heron and the otter are my friends" as the inspiration.

On the opposite side of the resort, Disney is putting a leisure pool called Perspective Pond, with a whirlpool spa. Disney says it is positioned for views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks across Bay Lake.
Where this sits in the bigger Lakeshore Lodge picture
Disney Lakeshore Lodge is a 967-room property going up on the south shores of Bay Lake, with three accommodation types confirmed: studios, suites, and one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses (the Lake House category is new). Today's reveal is concept art, not an opening date update; Disney continues to project a summer 2027 opening.
Theming pulls from Bambi, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear, with the recreation area drawing most heavily on Pocahontas. Transportation includes boat service to Magic Kingdom and complimentary transportation across Walt Disney World Resort, plus extra theme park time for hotel guests.

Quick planner notes
- This is a concept-art reveal, not an opening date. Summer 2027 is the only window Disney has committed to so far.
- Booking for Lakeshore Lodge stays has not opened, and today's reveal does not mention Disney Vacation Club.
- If you are planning a Bay Lake-area trip in 2027, the fireworks-view leisure pool (Perspective Pond) sits on the opposite side of the resort from The Wetlands feature pool, which is useful to know for room location requests.
