Vacation Fun Closes Again October 28 at Hollywood Studios, Barely a Month After Mickey and Minnie Got Their Theater Back

Mickey and Minnie barely had time to unpack. Vacation Fun, the animated short at the Mickey Shorts Theater in Disney's Hollywood Studios, is set to close again starting October 28, just a month after it came back from its last closure.

WDW News Today reports the date is showing in the My Disney Experience app, and Inside the Magic says Disney's operating calendar shows the same thing. That makes Tuesday, October 27 the last day to catch the show for now. Disney has not explained the closure or said when the show will return.

It only just reopened

The show went dark on August 9 so the theater could hand out the Kermit the Frog Annual Passholder magnet. According to WDW News Today, Disney listed show times in the app for a September 27 return, but the theater stayed closed that day and finally reopened on September 28.

By WDWMagic's count, this is the fourth time in about a year the theater has closed to make room for another event or activation:

• Disney Jollywood Nights 2025: closed from late October until late December
• May the 4th Star Wars merchandise: about a week, April 29 through May 5, 2026
• Kermit the Frog Annual Passholder magnet: August into late September 2026
• The new closure: from October 28, 2026

Why it is probably Jollywood Nights

Disney has not said what the theater will be used for, but all three outlets link the timing to Disney Jollywood Nights, the separately ticketed holiday party at Hollywood Studios. Last year Vacation Fun closed in late October and the space was used as a merchandise location for the party (Inside the Magic says it was the theater's exit area). Inside the Magic, citing Disney's operating calendar from that season, says the show went dark October 20, 2025 and came back December 27.

This year Jollywood Nights is scheduled for 15 nights between November 7, 2026 and January 5, 2027, and Inside the Magic says it is the first time the event has stretched into January. If the theater follows last year's pattern, WDWMagic expects the closure to run "through early January 2027, though Disney has not confirmed a reopening date."

What it means for your visit

Vacation Fun is a short, indoor, seated break at Hollywood Studios, and it is included with regular park admission. Jollywood Nights is not: according to Inside the Magic, Disney lists 2026 party tickets at $169 to $199 per person plus tax. So daytime guests from late October lose a show while the theater, most likely, works for a party they would have to pay extra to attend.

If seeing Mickey and Minnie's vacation is on your list, go by October 27. Dates like this can shift, as the September 27 no-show showed, so check the My Disney Experience app before you plan your day around it.
