Walls and Scrim Went Up at Islands of Adventure Trading Company, the Third Port of Entry Shop Wrapped Since August

Brown construction walls and beige scrim have gone up along one side of the Islands of Adventure Trading Company, the big souvenir shop under the hand-lettered "Souvenirs, Largest Selection" awning in Port of Entry. Small framed signs on the boards read "Please Pardon Our Dust." The store is open and trading as normal, and Universal has not said what the work is.

On its own, that is a shrug. The reason it is worth a few minutes is that it is the third Port of Entry shop wrapped this same way in just over five weeks.

Three shops, one treatment

On August 18, WDW News Today reported beige scrim and brown walls placed around portions of Island Market and Export and the Port of Entry Christmas Shoppe. The detail that matters from that report: "Both stores remain open while construction work is being done." One poster on the wall read "Islands Air" under a plane, headed "Universal Studios Islands of Adventure."

On September 23, the same outlet reported the same arrangement at the Trading Company: "brown construction walls were erected along one side of the shop outside. Beige scrim peeks above the top." Same look, same "Please Pardon Our Dust" signs, same open doors.

All three are Port of Entry addresses, the market street almost every guest walks through on the way in and again on the way out. Three storefronts across two jobs in just over five weeks, each one left open for business, reads more like a rolling exterior refresh working around the entry land a storefront or two at a time than like a run of unrelated repairs. Universal has not described it that way, or any way, so treat that as a reading of the pattern rather than a plan anyone has confirmed.

There is more than one precedent worth knowing, and the most recent sits at the far end of the same land. Walls went up around Croissant Moon Bakery, also in Port of Entry, in late April 2026, and were reported down on July 23. WDW News Today described that job as exterior refurbishment work, noted the walls covered only the outer facade, and reported that guests could still get into the bakery throughout. When the walls came off, the facade had been repainted a more muted yellow. That is the same shape of job as the three since August, which is why the refresh reading is worth putting on the table at all. The Croissant Moon job was not the first, either. WDW News Today reported on October 22, 2025 that the Rentals facade in Port of Entry, the stroller, wheelchair and ECV desk rather than a store, had been behind scaffolding and scrim since that July, with guests still reaching the counter through an opening in the walls.

What Universal has said

Nothing. "Universal has not officially announced a reason for the construction walls and scrim," WDW News Today wrote of the Trading Company work, and the August report did not cite a reason either. There is no drama in that. If this is cosmetic facade work on an open store, it is exactly the kind of job parks do quietly, and walls going up before an announcement is the normal order of events, not a withheld one.

Islands of Adventure has a lot going on

Inside Universal's roundup for the week of September 21 lists Jurassic Park River Adventure closed for a major refurbishment with a scheduled reopening of November 20, 2026, and Skull Island: Reign of Kong operating with its ending modified after the King Kong animatronic was damaged during recent maintenance, with no announced timeline for the attraction returning to its normal experience. Separately, WDW News Today reported on September 22 that construction walls had gone up in Toon Lagoon, surrounding the entirety of the carnival games area, with a temporary detour routed through the amphitheater courtyard.

So the entry land, Jurassic Park, Skull Island and Toon Lagoon are all under some flavor of work at once, while the stores themselves keep taking money. If you are heading over, the shopping is fine. The Souvenirs arch still photographs clean; it is the side facades that are boarded.
