Universal Revealed Another Free Passholder Item, a Blue UOAP Wristlet Keychain, and This One Does Not Need a Fully Booked Event

When Universal Orlando laid out Passholder Appreciation Days on July 28, it left one perk blank. The perk list had a line for a complimentary, limited-time specialty item, and next to it, in parentheses, the words "to be announced soon."

It has now been shown. It is a wristlet keychain, and unlike the free passholder magnet Universal revealed the day before, this one does not require getting into a fully booked party.

A hand holds out a bright blue fabric strap printed with UOAP in large white block letters, with a gold-tone key ring at one end. The background is an out-of-focus bed of red geraniums and green shrubs.

What it is

The official Universal Orlando Annual Passholders account teased it on Instagram, and WDW News Today reported the reveal Sunday night. Picture a bright blue fabric strap, UOAP running along one side in big white letters, with gold-tone hardware on the end for keys or a bag.

It becomes available beginning August 15, during Passholder Appreciation Days, and it is offered while supplies last. Universal had already said where this year's giveaway would be handed out: The Tonight Shop at Universal Studios Florida, plus the UOAP Lounge over in Toon Lagoon at Universal Islands of Adventure.

Why that matters more than a keychain usually would

A day earlier, Universal revealed another complimentary passholder item for this stretch, a Revenge of the Mummy magnet. That magnet is handed out only at Passholder Nights on August 15 and 16, and Universal says those two nights are at capacity, with no standby line for passholders who do not hold a reservation.

The wristlet is the one with an open door. Passholder Appreciation Days runs August 15 through September 30, the lounge is open park open to park close during the promotion, and the perk sheet lists the specialty item as a straight pick-up at those two shops rather than a Passholder Nights exclusive. Park admission is still needed, since both shops sit inside the gates. The phrase "while supplies last" is doing real work in that sentence, but it is a much shorter set of hoops.

Center, a mason jar milkshake embossed with the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium logo, topped with chocolate whipped cream, a peanut butter cup, a candy bar and orange and yellow candy pieces. At right, a speckled plate holding a waffle topped with fried chicken, pickled red onion, herbs and a dark red sauce.

The rest of the Appreciation Days list

The keychain is the giveaway, but it is one line on a long perk sheet Universal published in late July. Among the rest: $40 off a one-day park-to-park ticket good at both Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure, 40 percent off Sunday through Thursday stays at four select Universal Orlando hotels, 30 percent off select Universal Express Passes, app-only discounts on mobile food and drink orders at select restaurants that scale by pass tier (20 percent for Seasonal, Power and Preferred, 25 percent for Premier), 50 percent off Wizarding World of Harry Potter merchandise personalization, a $15 merchandise credit on purchases of $100 or more at select participating merchandise locations, and an early shot at the new Illuminated Globe Merchandise Collection, which passholders can be among the first to shop inside the UOAP Lounge or The Tonight Shop.

There is also a run of passholder-exclusive menu items across the parks, CityWalk and the hotels, including a Prosciutto & Arugula Pizza at Louie's Italian Restaurant, a Kahuna Bowl at Kohola Reef Restaurant & Social Club at Universal Volcano Bay, and a Chocolate Peanut Butter Explosion at The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen.

The open question is supply. Neither Universal's perk sheet nor Sunday's reveal says how many wristlets were made, or what happens at the two shops once they are gone.

Universal published a room by room walkthrough of the Sinners haunted house one day before Halloween Horror Nights 35 opens. Show director Ramon Paradoa says the team locked the surreal montage set first and designed the scenes before and after it around that, which he says is not always how Universal builds a house. The Sinners house was not on the paid lights on tour that matched three other HHN 35 houses to their codenames last week.
