Construction at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort Now Runs Through Early 2027, Past Its Old End-of-2026 Finish

If you were counting on a construction-free Polynesian by New Year's, you will need a new calendar. Disney's latest refurbishment notice for Disney's Polynesian Village Resort pushes the work into 2027.

WDWMagic and BlogMickey both reported the change on Tuesday, October 20. The previous timeline had the work wrapping up by the end of 2026.

What the new notice says

Here is the updated notice, as quoted by WDWMagic:

"Through early 2027, some areas of Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are being refurbished. This work includes the reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway. Additionally, some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted. Most Resort dining, pools and amenities will remain available."

The notice adds that "construction activity will be noticeable during daytime hours" and asks guests to "allow for extra travel time when arriving at or leaving the Resort."

Disney's own Polynesian resort page currently carries a banner reading "This Resort hotel is currently undergoing construction and refurbishments."

"All" became "most"

BlogMickey compared the new notice with the one Disney issued in June 2025, when it officially announced the resort's new main entrance. That version covered work from May 2025 through 2026, and it described the project as "the reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway and bus area."

Two things changed:

  • The bus area is gone from the notice. BlogMickey says that part is complete. The new bus loop, which includes a covered shelter by the Great Ceremonial House, opened July 13.
  • Amenities went from all to most. The 2025 version promised that every resort dining spot, pool and amenity would stay available. The new one says most, and Disney did not say which ones fall outside that.

BlogMickey also points out that an earlier Disney construction notice gave noisy work an earliest start of 9:00am, and the new notice drops it.

Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace: still "late October"

The outdoor Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace is still part of the notice: "Through late October, Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort will be temporarily closed due to refurbishment work at the Grand Ceremonial House."

BlogMickey reports the terrace closed in April during exterior work on the Great Ceremonial House, the resort's main building. With late October arriving, WDWMagic notes Disney has not confirmed a specific reopening date.

What is left on the roadway

The notice does not say which parts of the roadway work remain. Here is where things stand, per BlogMickey:

  • Guests started driving in through the new main entrance, where Seven Seas Drive meets Floridian Way, in December 2025. At the time, Disney expected roadway work around the nearby intersection to take roughly one more year.
  • On July 13, Disney closed the Seven Seas Drive intersection with Floridian Way for good.
  • Island Tower guests and main-resort guests now follow different driving directions.

Staying at the Polynesian this winter? Expect visible work near the front entrance, build in extra time when you drive in or out, and check the resort page before you go.

Would a construction notice change where you book, or is the Polynesian worth it no matter what?
