The Muppets Coaster's Holiday Overlay Is Open, and Michael Bublé Is on the Posters Though Disney Credits No Guest on Little Saint Nick

Scooter is wearing a Santa hat, the launch countdown has switched to sweater-style graphics, and Michael Bublé's name is on the queue posters. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios on Wednesday, November 4.

One detail does not line up: the fourth song. Disney's post credits "Little Saint Nick" to The Electric Mayhem with no guest named. WDW News Today, which posted ride-through videos on opening day, lists it as The Electric Mayhem featuring Michael Bublé. BlogMickey, repeating Disney's list, names the band alone. Bublé's name is on the new queue posters, next to Cyndi Lauper and Jennifer Hudson, and a WDW News Today photo shows a gift tag reading "Michael Bublé" on one panel of the pre-show studio screen too.

A correction to our earlier coverage: our October 6 report said Disney's announcement listed only three of the "four new holiday-inspired tracks" it promised. An archived copy of Disney's post from October 9 shows all four, including "Little Saint Nick," so the song was on Disney's list nearly four weeks before opening day.

The four songs

  • "Holiday Road," The Electric Mayhem featuring Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear
  • "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," The Electric Mayhem featuring Jennifer Hudson
  • "Silver Bells," The Electric Mayhem featuring Cyndi Lauper
  • "Little Saint Nick," The Electric Mayhem (WDW News Today adds Michael Bublé)

The overlay runs through January 6. The ride reopened as a Muppets attraction in May, so this is its first holiday season since the Muppets took over. Walt Disney Imagineering marked the debut on Instagram with a first-look video and a short caption, quoted by BlogMickey: "The Electric Mayhem is ready for the holidays."

What changed, from the queue to the launch

The queue posters. Some of the band's posters in the rotunda have been swapped. WDW News Today transcribes one of them as "Holly Jolly Hollywood Mayhem," with G-Force Records presenting "The Electric Mayhem Holiday Concert" and special guests Cyndi Lauper, Michael Bublé and Jennifer Hudson, also featuring Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear.

The pre-show studio. Garland, lights and tinsel now dress the recording studio, according to WDW News Today, including tinsel around the screen showing Kermit, holiday tins on a ledge and a Hanukkah menorah on a speaker. Scooter wears a red scarf with snowflakes and a Santa hat, next to a lit Christmas tree. According to BlogMickey, the pre-show also runs new holiday-themed videos.

The launch. The "Hollywood Fwy" sign has multi-colored Christmas lights, and the launch countdown has switched to sweater-style designs featuring Fozzie Bear, Scooter, Miss Piggy, Kermit and Gonzo. WDW News Today spotted two more countdown versions that feature only Animal.

The exit. The unload area has a row of seven Christmas trees between the band's sold-out posters. Riders also get holiday on-ride photos from Disney PhotoPass, which BlogMickey says carry a "One Night to Rock the Halls" theme.

The courtyard outside has new holiday music too. WDW News Today's list of 27 songs includes Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem's "'Zat You Santa Claus?" and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' "Christmas All Over Again."

Alien Swirling Saucers got its holiday songs the same day

Over in Toy Story Land, Alien Swirling Saucers: Lilypad's Jams started its holiday playlist the same day, BlogMickey reports. It is the ride's first seasonal soundtrack since Lilypad took over as DJ on September 25. Its holiday set: "Toyland," "Deck the Halls," "Swirling, Swirling, Saucers" and "Joy to the Swirl," and each one has its own lighting pattern above the saucers (BlogMickey notes the lights are hard to see during the day). The holiday playlist stays through January 6, 2027.

The third of the holiday overlays Disney announced in October, at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT, starts November 25.

So, does "Little Saint Nick" with The Electric Mayhem beat the original, and is Bublé really on it?
