Disney World Is Moving Fantasmic! and Happily Ever After to Earlier Showtimes This Fall, Starting the Week of August 23

Sunset is creeping earlier over Central Florida, and Disney World is adjusting two of its biggest nighttime shows to match. Starting the week of August 23, Disney begins moving both Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom to earlier start times, so anyone planning a fall trip around a specific showtime will want to double check the clock.

Fantasmic! moves first. Beginning Sunday, August 23, the Hollywood Studios water and fireworks spectacular starts at 8:30 p.m. nightly, a half hour earlier than its current 9 p.m. slot. On Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, the park adds a second performance at 10 p.m. Then, starting September 18, that later show shifts up again to 9:30 p.m. on those same three nights.

Happily Ever After follows on August 31. Magic Kingdom's flagship fireworks show moves from 10 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. nightly beginning Monday, August 31, and that earlier time holds through at least September 21. One catch for Halloween fans: Happily Ever After will not be performed on Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights, when the separately ticketed after-hours event takes over the park with its own fireworks.

What is not changing. Over at EPCOT, Luminous: The Symphony of Us keeps its 9 p.m. nightly start time, at least until mid-September. So of the three Walt Disney World nighttime shows, only Fantasmic! and Happily Ever After are on the move for now.

Why it matters. Earlier showtimes are a normal seasonal adjustment as the sun sets sooner, but they matter for trip planning. Guests who like a late dinner before a 10 p.m. show, or who rope drop the parks and count on a fixed evening finale, will want to rebuild their fall touring plans around the new times. If you are visiting on a Not-So-Scary party night, remember that Happily Ever After will not run for regular-hours guests that evening.
