The Baby Shark singalongs get all the attention this summer, but for one week SeaWorld Orlando is handing the spotlight to the real apex predators. Shark Appreciation Week swims in from July 27 through August 1.

Daily Aquarist Talks

The heart of the week is a series of daily Aquarist Talks at Shark Shallows, hosted by SeaWorld's animal care experts. The talks give guests a closer look at why sharks matter to healthy ocean ecosystems, straight from the people who care for them.

Mako turns 10

The week doubles as a birthday party for one of Orlando's marquee coasters. SeaWorld is marking the 10th anniversary of Mako, the hypercoaster the park bills as Orlando's tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster. If you have been meaning to ride it, a milestone summer is a good excuse.

Shark-themed snacks (and one for the grown-ups)

The park is leaning into the theme at the food windows with a limited lineup: Shark Fin PB&J Sandwiches, MacAttack Shark Bites, Baby Shark Cookie Dippin' Dots, and Shark-cuterie Boards. Guests 21 and older can also raise a Shark Margarita, available exclusively during the week.

Tickets and a conservation angle

Park tickets start at $59.99, and the week comes with a give-back. A $5 Guy Harvey commemorative card is available with 100 percent of its net proceeds, before taxes, going to the Guy Harvey Foundation's shark conservation efforts. It is a small buy that turns a snack run into a donation.

If you are visiting with little ones, the separate Baby Shark at SeaWorld event is still running through September 7, so you can pair the singalong show with a week that takes sharks a little more seriously.

The caps leave room for one more major theme park, two more minor parks, 18 more golf holes, and a jump in hotel keys from 28,267 to 39,801.

Universal Studios Florida's Entrance Arches Are Walled Off for a Repaint, and the Viral White Version Going Around Is Just a Fan Edit

Construction walls now wrap parts of the yellow-beige arches that have greeted Universal Studios Florida guests since the park opened in 1990. The work is a repaint, not a teardown, and the arches are expected to match the brighter white-and-brown palette the rest of the entrance plaza already wears. That crisp white arch rendering circulating on social media is a fan edit, not an official Universal image.

More Scrim Comes Off the Haunted Mansion and the Facade Underneath Has Changed: Green Cupola, Darker Brick, Lighter Stone

After roughly six months behind scaffolding and scrim, Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion is starting to reappear, and it does not look the way it did before the work began. The cupola dome is green, the brick is noticeably darker, and the stone trim has been lightened, undoing the even-toned look the building had settled into by 2011. Disney has said nothing about the work, and one wall near the exit is still visibly half-finished.

Construction walls now wrap the closed Westward Ho Refreshments kiosk in Magic Kingdom's Frontierland, and WDW News Today reports the walls will eventually be moved forward into the existing riverwalk area, with a temporary pedestrian pathway installed along the promenade for parade viewing during years of expected construction for Piston Peak National Park. The churro cart has already relocated near Frontier Trading Post, and WDW News Today counted two popcorn stands in new spots.
