SeaWorld Orlando Halloween Spooktacular 2026: All 26 Dates, What's Included, and the One Thing That Costs Extra

SeaWorld Orlando's Halloween Spooktacular is the rare Orlando Halloween event that does not ask for a separate ticket. It runs on 26 select dates from August 29 through November 1, 2026, it is included with regular park admission, and it is aimed squarely at young kids: trick-or-treating, character meet and greets, dance parties, and Sesame Street friends in costume, all during daylight hours.

This guide covers the exact dates, what is included, the one thing that costs extra, and how the park's closing time swings by three hours depending on which date you pick.

The basics

Dates: 26 select dates, August 29 through November 1, 2026. Cost: included with park admission, with one paid extra (see below). Park hours: gates at 9 a.m.; closing varies from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. by date. Best for: our read is toddlers through roughly age 10. SeaWorld only calls it "specifically designed to be a kid-friendly event" and publishes no age guidance. Where: concentrated in Key West, around Dolphin Theater, the Journey to Atlantis plaza, and Sesame Street Land.

SeaWorld's own FAQ puts the value plainly: "The Spooktacular Halloween event is included with your regular park admission, so no special ticket is needed."

Every 2026 date

SeaWorld does not publish the date list on the event page. It just says "select dates" and points to the park calendar. We pulled the full list from that calendar, and it is worth knowing, because it is not simply "weekends."

August: 29, 30
September: 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27
October: 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30, 31
November: 1

The pattern is every Saturday and Sunday across the run, plus Labor Day Monday September 7, Columbus Day Monday October 12, and four October Fridays (the 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th). There are no Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday dates at all. If you are visiting on a Tuesday in October, there is no Spooktacular programming that day.

Pick your date by closing time, not by the calendar

This is the planning detail nobody mentions, and it is worth more than any tip about crowds. SeaWorld's closing time on Spooktacular dates ranges from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the pattern is not what you would guess.

Closing at 10 p.m.: August 29.
Closing at 9 p.m.: August 30.
Closing at 8 p.m.: September 5, 6, 12, 19, 26, 27; October 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31; November 1.
Closing at 7 p.m.: September 7, 13, 20; October 9, 16, 23, 30.

Opening weekend is the clear winner for a long day. August 29 runs until 10 p.m. and August 30 until 9 p.m., and the park is still running the tail end of its summer nighttime lineup then, so you get Halloween by day and the summer shows after dark.

The counterintuitive part: three of the quietest-sounding dates, the September Sundays and Labor Day Monday (September 7, 13 and 20), close at 7 p.m., which is the earliest close of the season. A common assumption is that the nights with Howl-O-Scream get cut short. That is not what the calendar shows. Most Howl-O-Scream Saturdays and Sundays stay open until 8 p.m., an hour later than those September Sundays, because 7 p.m. is simply SeaWorld's ordinary autumn closing time regardless of the haunt.

How Howl-O-Scream fits in

Howl-O-Scream is SeaWorld's separately ticketed adult haunt, running its own nights from September 11 through October 31. It is a genuinely different event, and three things about it matter to a family planning a Spooktacular day.

It is a separate ticket that "does NOT include daytime admission," per SeaWorld, so buying one does not get you into the daytime event. It is built for mature audiences, with SeaWorld warning of "intense adult themes including blood, gore, and violence." And the costume rule flips completely after dark: costumes are welcomed all day at Spooktacular, and are not permitted at Howl-O-Scream.

Ten of the 26 Spooktacular dates have no Howl-O-Scream that night at all: August 29, August 30, September 5, 6, 7, 13, 20, 27, October 12, and November 1. One caveat on that list, September 27 is tagged Spooktacular-only on SeaWorld's calendar, but at least one haunt trade publication lists it as a Howl-O-Scream night, so confirm before you build a plan around it.

Going the other way, SeaWorld's calendar flags several Howl-O-Scream nights with no daytime Spooktacular, including an October 26 to 29 stretch in peak Halloween week, though some trade listings show a shorter haunt schedule that week. If you are traveling with kids in late October, check the park calendar for the specific date before you commit.

What is included, and the one thing that is not

Nearly everything is included with admission. The exception is the trick-or-treat bag. SeaWorld's rule is direct: "A SeaWorld trick-or-treat bag is required for the candy trail," and trick-or-treating "is available to guests who purchase a reusable bag."

You buy the bag inside the park at the SeaWorld Store, Coconut Bay Traders, Trek Treasures, Golden Seahorse, or Stroller Gifts. SeaWorld has not published a 2026 price, so budget for one bag per trick-or-treating child and check at the shop. Pass member discounts do apply, per the official FAQ.

Halloween kids crafts, by contrast, are explicitly free: SeaWorld notes they are "included with park admission." You will find them on the candy path next to Journey to Atlantis.

What there is to do

Trick-or-Treat Trail. The centerpiece. Candy stations run through Key West and around Dolphin Theater, and per SeaWorld each one "features an assortment of candy all will enjoy."

Meet Spookley the Square Pumpkin. The only activity with a published clock time: across from Rita's Italian Ice, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Meet a Mermaid. Halloween mermaids in the Key West area, available every event day. That is the same stretch the candy trail runs through, so pair them with the trail rather than making a separate trip.

Pumpkin Garden. Walk through and count the friendly pumpkin fish, with a storyteller reading in the garden.

One caveat on planning: apart from Spookley's 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. window, SeaWorld publishes almost no times. Storytime with Big Bird and the Pumpkin Garden storyteller are listed as happening "at select times throughout the day," and the rest carry no published times at all. The park directs guests to the SeaWorld app for the daily schedule, so check it when you walk in.

SeaWorld is also teasing an addition it has not named yet, with a note on the activities page promising "a spooky surprise will be revealed for the 2026 Spooktacular season." We will update this guide when it is announced.

Food allergies: the teal pumpkin option

This is one of the better-run allergy accommodations in Orlando, and it lets a child do the entire trail rather than sit it out. SeaWorld's wording: "At each trick-or-treat trail candy station, guests with food allergies can pick up a teal token." When you finish the trail, you take the tokens to Coconut Bay Traders in Key West and trade them for allergy-friendly items. SeaWorld says the program "is designed to eliminate cross-contamination for people with life-threatening allergies."

Costume rules

Guests of all ages can dress up, with two limits worth reading before you pack. Anyone 13 or older may not wear costume masks or hoods, and face painting is not permitted on any guest unless it is done by a park artist. All costumes are subject to the park's normal dress code.

Practical note: event days start at 9 a.m. and run to at least 7 p.m. in Florida late-summer heat. A full costume is a long commitment for a small child, so packing a change of clothes is a good idea.

How it compares

The included-with-admission part is the whole argument. Disney's Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separate hard ticket running roughly $119 to $229 per person plus tax depending on the date, and Universal's Halloween Horror Nights is both separately ticketed and built for teens and adults. Spooktacular rides along on a normal SeaWorld ticket, recently promoted from $59.99. Prices were checked July 28, 2026 and change often, especially SeaWorld's rotating flash sales.

To be fair about it, SeaWorld is not alone in the included-with-admission lane: Legoland Florida's Brick-or-Treat is also included with admission, and it is a strong option for a similar age group. But among the three big Orlando resorts, SeaWorld is the one giving you a Halloween overlay without a second ticket.

The honest framing: treat Spooktacular as an excellent bonus layer on a regular SeaWorld day rather than a reason to build a trip around it. The activities are concentrated in two areas of the park and slot naturally into a day that also includes Mako, the animal experiences, and the Sesame Street Land rides.

Quick planning tips

Do the trail early. SeaWorld does not publish a trail start time, but Spookley is out from 11 a.m., so late morning to midday is the safe window, before the afternoon heat and the biggest station lines.

Choose an 8 p.m. or later date if you want a full day. The closing-time list above matters more than the day of the week. Opening weekend gives you the longest evenings of the season.

September is the quieter stretch. Because the event only runs on select days, those days concentrate the crowds, and September dates tend to be the calmest of the season.

Buy the bag first. Grab it on the way in so you are not backtracking to a shop once the kids spot the first candy station.

Bring a stroller for younger kids. The Halloween footprint spans Key West through Journey to Atlantis plus Sesame Street Land, and SeaWorld is a big, spread-out park.

Do not buy a Howl-O-Scream ticket expecting daytime entry. It does not include daytime admission, it starts in the evening, and costumes are not permitted at that event.
