Legoland Florida's New Entrance Portal Opens Today at 26 Feet Tall and 50 Feet Wide, Announced Only on Social Media

Legoland Florida has built a new entrance portal at the front of the park, and the park says it opens today.

The park announced a new brick-built entrance portal in a short video posted to its official YouTube channel on Thursday, September 3, at 6:15 p.m. Eastern. The caption says it is "opening this Labor Day," which is Monday, September 7. The park posted the same caption to its Facebook page and its Instagram account the same evening.

The build specs Legoland gave out

The park listed the details under a heading it called "Build deets":

  • 26 feet tall and 50 feet wide
  • Fully backlit, which the park pitches as being for "the perfect nighttime shots"
  • 13 custom brick-built models and LEGO Minifigures

That is a large structure. For scale, 26 feet is roughly the height of a two story house at the roof peak, and 50 feet across is about the width of four standard 12 foot traffic lanes.

The website has not been told

Here is the odd part. Four days after the announcement, and on the morning it is supposed to open, Legoland Florida's own website does not mention the portal at all. The word does not appear on the park homepage, on the theme park overview page, or on the rides and attractions index.

The park's sitemap tells the same story. The only Legoland Florida pages updated since Sunday morning are two blog posts, one promoting a Plant Monster's Greenhouse walkthrough in the park's Brick or Treat Street Halloween event and one about nature escapes around Winter Haven. Nothing was published, updated or added for a new front gate.

The site is plainly capable of keeping up. The park's Imagination Theater page was updated on September 3, the same day the portal video went out, and the attraction has its own card on the rides and attractions index. The entrance portal has had neither.

Still under construction when the video was shot

The announcement clip is not a finished reveal. It is a build video. One frame shows a worker on an orange lift platform in a hard hat and fall arrest harness, pulling bubble wrap off a brick-built figure. Another shows a telehandler working on bare sand and pavers in front of the entrance, with the colorful new structure rising beside the existing LEGOLAND Florida Resort sign.

The park's own sign off in the caption is "We can't wait to welcome you through it very soon!" That was written four days before opening day, with models still going in.

Worth knowing before you go

Across that announcement and its website, Legoland has not shown the finished portal, has not mentioned an opening ceremony, and has not put a single line about it on the site. The park's own caption says guests will be welcomed through the portal, so if you are visiting today, look for it at the front gate.

The announcement video had just over 9,600 views as of Monday morning. That makes it the most watched Short on the park's channel in the past month by a wide margin, roughly triple the next best clip, which had about 3,000 views. The audience found it. The website never mentioned it.

Universal announced the dates and the full lineup on the same day. Rock the Universe returns to Universal Studios Florida on Friday, January 22 and Saturday, January 23, 2027, with nine artists a night and eighteen across the weekend. Elevation Worship leads the Friday lineup, Josiah Queen leads Saturday, and tickets go on sale Tuesday, September 15.
