Seasonal Events EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival 2026 Is Here — But One Beloved Ride Has Fans Talking
Spring has arrived at EPCOT. The 2026 International Flower & Garden Festival officially opened on March 4 and runs through June 1, 2026, transforming the park into a vibrant celebration of gardens, global cuisine, and live music. But this year's festival is making headlines for an unexpected reason — and it involves a fan-favorite boat ride.
The Highlights: What's New This Year
The festival itself is packed with offerings across the park:
- 60+ Character Topiaries — Buzz, Woody, Stitch, Lightning McQueen, Mike Wazowski, and many more Disney and Pixar favorites sculpted from living plants throughout the park
- 20 Outdoor Kitchens with 75+ new menu items — Global cuisine spanning everything from Japanese-inspired dishes to Southern comfort food
- Garden Rocks Concert Series — Nightly live concerts with new acts including The Music of ABBA, Information Society, and FireHouse
- Spike's Pollen-Nation Exploration — An interactive scavenger hunt with Spike the Bee hidden throughout the park
- Eggstravaganza — A separate egg-themed scavenger hunt
- Butterfly Landing near the Imagination Pavilion
Festival Merchandise
This year's merchandise lineup features collections built around Orange Bird, Spike the Bee, and Alice in Wonderland. Standout items include limited-edition spirit jerseys, Loungefly bags, custom ears, and a particularly popular Orange Bird button-up shirt.
The Living with the Land Controversy
Not everything is coming up roses. Fan attention quickly zeroed in on Living with the Land, which received a dramatically scaled-back festival overlay compared to previous years.
In 2025, the beloved boat ride featured an elaborate Disney Princess makeover with decorations inspired by Moana (including her boat), Rapunzel (with Pascal figurines and paintings from the film), and Belle. It was widely praised by guests.
For 2026? The decorations have been reduced to:
- A single flower archway in the first greenhouse
- A small honey display with jars and a honey box
- A white chair, side table, pitcher of lemonade, and pot of flowers
- A few scattered potted plants and hanging trellis elements
Multiple outlets called out the reduction. AllEars.Net wrote: "To say we're disappointed is an understatement." Fans have widely attributed the change to cost-cutting, though Disney has not issued any official statement.
Garden Rocks Concert Series
The nightly concert series continues to be a major draw. Performances are included with park admission and take place at the America Gardens Theatre in the World Showcase. This year's lineup features a mix of classic and contemporary acts performing throughout the festival's three-month run.
Tips for Your Visit
The festival runs daily through June 1 and is included with regular EPCOT admission — no separate ticket required. Here are a few tips:
- Weekdays are significantly less crowded than weekends, especially for the outdoor kitchens
- The Butterfly Landing near Imagination is a hidden gem that many guests walk right past
- If you're planning to eat your way through the festival, the Festival Passport helps track which kitchens you've visited
- Garden Rocks concerts are first-come, first-seated — arrive 30-45 minutes early for popular acts
Despite the Living with the Land letdown, the 2026 Flower & Garden Festival delivers on the things that matter most: beautiful topiaries, excellent food, and live music in one of Disney's most scenic parks. It's one of the best reasons to visit EPCOT this spring.
