Remy's Ratatouille Adventure Just Got Its First Camouflage Props, More Than Ten Months After Disney Promised Them

Ride Remy's Ratatouille Adventure this weekend and there is finally something new to look at in the foreground, which is a strange sentence to write about a ride that has been open since 2021.

Blog Mickey spotted two oversized set pieces inside the France Pavilion attraction on Friday morning. They are the first physical props to show up since Disney announced the ride's 3D to 2D conversion in October 2025 and said more would follow.

What was added

The first prop turns up in the long kitchen sequence, a moment after the vehicles clear the oversized refrigerator. A tipped box has strewn dry pasta along the floor at the front of the scene, planted right in front of the screen where chefs rush around the kitchen.

The second sits in the finale, the rooftop celebration Remy shares with the rest of the rat colony. A cutting board has been placed in front of that screen and loaded up with cheese, a wine cork and assorted other kitchen bits.

Why a cutting board matters

The point of these props is camouflage. Remy's Ratatouille Adventure alternates between built physical sets and large projection screens, and the handoff between the two is the weak spot: the screen has an edge, and in a couple of scenes there was nothing sitting in front of that edge to disguise it.

The geometry helps in the kitchen: Blog Mickey rates the disguise as working pretty well at that spot, crediting the extra distance between riders and that particular screen. Elsewhere on the ride the projection rises above riders' heads instead.

The design is not new to the ride's family. Blog Mickey reports that the same idea has already been installed on the Disneyland Paris version, which uses its own outsized board and scattered pasta to blunt the equivalent screen edges.

The promise, and the wait

Disney closed the ride from November 10 to 13, 2025 to swap its 3D projection for 2D, dropping the glasses. Per WDWMagic, Disney said the replacement would be sharper and brighter without changing the ride's story or its motion, and the same report said added props and lighting were due in the queue and the ride in stages over the following months.

Disney's own wording, which WDWMagic quoted in May and dated to the ride's November 2025 reopening, was that "Remy's fans will spot new props and lighting enhancements when they are added to the queue and attraction over the next few months."

The phases took a while. Walt Disney Imagineering filed a Notice of Commencement in late May 2026 covering the installation of set elements, listing frequent Imagineering partner Icarus Exhibits as contractor. Blog Mickey reported on June 18 that a recent ride through had turned up no camouflage props at all, about seven months on from the 2D switch. That report landed roughly three weeks after the permit surfaced.

Friday's sighting lands more than ten months after the October announcement and nearly ten months after the ride reopened in its 2D form.

Is that all?

Nobody outside Disney knows yet. Blog Mickey is explicit about the limits of what it saw: "It's not yet clear whether more props are coming to other scenes throughout the ride and queue. It's possible that these two props are the extent of the work."

Two props against a promise that covered both the queue and the attraction is either a first phase or a finished one, and the only way to tell the difference is to keep riding.
