About this Ride

Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent is an all-new Indiana Jones adventure headlining the Tropical Americas land at Disney's Animal Kingdom, opening in 2027. Set in the 1950s, it takes guests beneath a newly discovered Maya temple ruin beside a cenote and into the Maya Underworld, which local legend says is guarded by a serpentine creature called the Tsukán. Disney revealed the name at D23 in August 2026 and said Harrison Ford is the model for the attraction's Indiana Jones Audio-Animatronics figure, the first time his likeness has been used on a Disney attraction. It takes the site of DINOSAUR, which closed permanently on February 1, 2026.

The Middle of the Maya Pyramid Is Filled In at Animal Kingdom, and the Encanto Casita Now Reads as a House From the Air

New aerial photos published this week show a third carved section now seated in the center of the Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent facade, closing the gap that was open steel at the start of this month. Across the site, the steel skeleton of the Casita has risen far enough that the outline of the house is readable, with faux rockwork climbing the show building behind it.

Disney Took the 2027 Opening Year Off Tropical Americas This Morning, While Monstropolis Now Has One on the Same List

Disney rewrote the Tropical Americas entry on the Coming to the Parks list at DisneyWorld.com on Thursday. Tropical Americas lost the Pueblo Esperanza subtitle and the words "in 2027". Monstropolis, which carried no year in June, now says parts of it open in 2027. Disney has said nothing about a delay, and the Disney Parks Blog still says 2027 twice.

The First Painted Maya Temple Sections Are Up on the Indiana Jones Ride Building at Animal Kingdom, and the Middle Is Still Bare Steel

Aerial photos published Friday show two finished sections of the Maya pyramid facade craned onto the Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent building at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The top and bottom thirds are carved and painted in red and turquoise. The middle is still open steel, and WDW News Today reports the back of the facade is crumbling rock.

A Cracked Stone Tablet Reading Tropical Americas Is Now Carved Into a Column at Animal Kingdom, and Not at the Main Entrance

WDW News Today calls it the first marquee of any kind for Tropical Americas, and it is not at the main entrance. It sits on a scaffolded column along the side path over from Asia, cut to look like an old broken stone tablet. Photos went up Monday.

Disney Named the Animal Kingdom Indiana Jones Ride Myth of the Jade Serpent, and Harrison Ford Is the Face Model for Its Animatronic

Disney used its D23 parks showcase to give the Animal Kingdom Indiana Jones attraction a name, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and to confirm that Harrison Ford is the model for its Audio-Animatronics figure. Disney says it is the first time Ford's face will appear on the character at any of its parks. The ride opens in Tropical Americas in 2027, on the site of DINOSAUR.
