Disney World Annual Passholders trying to book a park for Saturday, September 26 found three of the four parks full by late morning. Only Animal Kingdom still had passholder reservations for most pass types. It happened in a month when Disney made 11 days reservation-free for passholders, and every one of them falls on a weekday. No Saturday has been one all year.
The Magic of Disney Animation is officially open at Hollywood Studios, and Disney marked it with a photo of 60 Disney Animation characters gathered for what it called a rare picture day. WDW News Today counts Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Bernard and Miss Bianca, Bolt and Merlin among the rare characters in the lineup. The park's new guide map also debuted, with Future Home of Monstropolis printed over the old Muppets Courtyard.
Disney's Hollywood Studios let guests walk into its new animation complex on Friday morning, three days before the September 14 date Disney had been advertising. Everything inside was open: Olaf Draws!, the Off the Page! character meets, Drawn to Wonderland, the Once Upon a Studio Theater and the art gallery. The in person waitlist for Olaf Draws! was not switched on, and as of Saturday afternoon the official attraction page still reads Opening September 14! with no showtimes listed.
WDW News Today published photos and video of the full Olaf Draws! show ahead of the September 14 opening, and the Genie drawing class plays clips from Back to Neverland, the 1989 pre-show film starring Robin Williams and Walter Cronkite. Eric Goldberg teaches that class, and he uses the footage to explain where Genie's vacation look came from.
Disney put operating hours on its website for the Hollywood Studios attraction that opens Monday, and they are not the same all month. It runs to park close for the first two weeks, then drops to 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from September 28. Separately, Olaf Draws! will use a virtual queue you cannot join in the app. You have to walk up to the venue and put your name down in person.
