About this Restaurant

Announced in detail at D23 in August 2026, Harryhausen's is the table service restaurant in Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios, recreating the sushi restaurant where Mike takes Celia for her birthday dinner in Monsters, Inc. Disney says its head sushi chef will be an Audio-Animatronics figure using eight tentacles to prepare food in the center of the dining room. In August 2026 Imagineering said the menu would include sushi rolls and tempura with film-inspired names, Disney has said the menu goes beyond sushi, and in October 2026 it said its culinary team is exploring ramen bowls with tonkotsu broth, alkaline noodles, fishcake cut into eyeball slices and green eggs. No final menu, prices or reservation opening date have been published. It is part of the portion of Monstropolis Disney says will open in 2027.

Disney Named Monstropolis' Main Street Dark Avenue, and Imagineers Say Piston Peak Buildings Were Shortened After a Balloon Test Came Back Too High

Walt Disney Imagineering put out a new We Call It Imagineering episode on Friday, a 24-minute architecture tour that stops in on four Walt Disney World projects. The headline is a name nobody had heard before: Dark Avenue, the main street running through Monstropolis to the Monsters, Inc. factory that will house the suspended door coaster. The same episode explains what balloons like the one we wrote about on August 12 are for. Imagineers say the first Piston Peak sightline test showed some elevations were a little too high, and structures were shortened before a second test came back right on the money.

Monstropolis Opens in 2027 Without Its Only Ride, and Disney Did Not Say When the Door Coaster Follows

Disney said at D23 that the rest of Monstropolis will open at Hollywood Studios in 2027 while work continues on the door coaster. That leaves the 2027 debut as a theater show, two dining spaces and a shop, with the land's only announced ride arriving at a date Disney has not given.
