Disney Springs Amphicar Tour Floods During Ride, Guests Evacuated

One of Disney Springs' most unique experiences had an unsettling moment this week. A The BOATHOUSE Amphicar tour vehicle took on water through a passenger door during a ride, leaving a family onboard with water rising to knee level before the driver turned the vehicle around and headed back to the dock. No injuries were reported.
The driver noticed the water intrusion and immediately reversed course — which is exactly what you'd hope for in that situation. Still, it was clearly a frightening few minutes for the guests aboard.

For the uninitiated: The BOATHOUSE's Amphicar tours are a genuine Disney Springs gem. These are real vintage 1960s Amphicars — amphibious vehicles that drive on land and float on water — and each 20-minute tour costs $125 per vehicle carrying a driver and up to four guests. They operate daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting.
Social media commenters following the story suggested the driver may not have fully engaged a secondary water-seal lock mechanism on the door. Disney has not publicly commented on whether this was equipment malfunction or operator error. The attraction is still operating.
